Making your own pre or intra workout carbs is pretty easy.
The foundation of this recipe is 1:1 ratio of sugar to Maltodextrin (or cluster dextrin if you’re fancy and like research) followed by a 2:1 ratio of these carbs to liquid
Example:
150g of carbs as
75g sugar
75g maltodextrin
Mixed with
75g lemon juice
Pour into a soft flask and enjoy.
If you mess around with different liquid (coffee, maple syrup etc) you can get different flavors, or if you order your carb powder from you can customize the flavor there which makes the flavor options nearly limitless. This is a cheap and sustainable way to make carb gels and it doesn’t leave and gel wrappers on the side of the road or in the woods.
