The landmine press is a great option for so many reasons:
🔥 more accessible overhead position that’s less likely to stress the shoulder joint
🔥 trains natural rotational patterns and connects the upper and lower body
🔥 challenges shoulder and core stability
With that being said, it’s often performed incorrectly.
One of the biggest mistakes I see is people treating the landmine press like a strict shoulder exercise and keeping their torso completely locked in place.
But the landmine press is designed to work with rotation, not against it.
As you press, the ribcage, trunk, and pelvis should naturally rotate and coordinate together. This allows you to create force from the ground up, connect the upper and lower body, and take advantage of the rotational patterns that make this exercise so valuable in the first place.
Don’t just move the arm, learn to rotate, transfer force, and move as an integrated system.
