MEMBER MONDAY!
Meet Steve and Tina Hepperly — two familiar faces around Pickleville who turned “just trying pickleball” into a full-blown lifestyle!
Three years ago, after hearing “You HAVE to try pickleball!” about a million times from Tonya Myers, they finally gave in and one game later, they were hooked. What started as something fun quickly became something much bigger — friendship, community, joy, competition, and a hobby they now genuinely love doing together.
For Tina, pickleball brought back a sense of playfulness and joy she didn’t realize she had been missing. For Steve, it’s all about the community and cardio… though he also admits he probably plays slightly more than Tina.
They joined Pickleville as soon as the doors opened and quickly found more than just courts to play on.
“We came for pickleball and ended up finding community. There’s something about laughing over terrible shots and cheering each other on that turns strangers into friends pretty quickly.”
When asked what they love most about Pickleville, their answer was simple: The people and the staff. (We love you guys too!!)
They say the facility is amazing, but what truly makes Pickleville special is the atmosphere — competitive while still keeping the fun and community at the center of it all.
Do they play together? Occasionally.
Some days it’s: “Great shot, babe!”
Other days… “Communication skills are being developed.”
Their secret to playing together successfully?
➡️ Don’t talk about missed shots on the drive home.
➡️ Definitely don’t coach each other.
And when game point is on the line?
Tina: “Don’t hit it out… don’t hit it into the net…”
Steve: “Body bag for the win!!”
One of the biggest things they’ve learned through pickleball is that joy and healing can show up in unexpected places — and that sharing a hobby together has kept them connected, active, laughing, and doing life side-by-side.
We’re so thankful to have Tina & Steve as part of the Pickleville family! They bring JOY and a whole lot of Jesus every time they walk in the door!
