This Member Monday is rolling in on two wheels tonight!

Why the late post? Because twins Tungsten and Tokgnar Davis turned 15 YESTERDAY and they were living it up! Help us wish these two a very happy birthday!

Along with their mom, Kaye, and Dad, Randy, the Davis family has been a part of the Pickleville family since joining in May 2024. The boys were introduced to pickleball at Alcoa Middle School by Ms. Nelson, and they've been hitting the courts ever since! Kaye spent plenty of time Uber-ing the boys around before she finally started playing herself last July—and she hasn’t quit.

Here's a little more about the Davis twins!

Favorite thing about Pickleville? The boys love the soft serve, of course! And mama Kaye loves seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. She says everyone is so friendly and accommodating!

Who's the most competitive? Tokgnar takes that title among the four! But don't let that fool you — this is a family that loves a little competition, whether it's on the pickleball court or around the board game table playing Ticket to Ride and Rummikub!

What's family pickleball like? Kaye says she loves playing with the boys because sometimes they take their game down a notch for her… although sometimes they still scare her! The boys, on the other hand, like playing with Mom because they know she won't spike or smash the ball back at them.

Hidden talents in the family?�
Tungsten is a whiz at yo-yo tricks and Tokgnar is the family's Rubik's Cube expert. Mama Kaye can cook! And Dad’s hidden talents... Let's just say a bad hit might come with a few choice words!

Their best pickleball advice? “Patience. Patience. Patience.” Not just with each other, but with everyone — especially yourself. “Learn to focus on fun over rules. Keep laughing because if not it'll consume you and you're not fun to play with. And meet everyone at their skill level.”

We love the Davis family and all the memories they’ve made as a family at Pickleville. Here's to another year of fun, friendly competition, and hopefully a little less mom-nagging when it's time to go!

💚 MEMBER MONDAY: LINDA ANDERSON!

Meet Linda Anderson! Linda has been playing pickleball for 5 years and has been part of the Pickleville family since we opened! 🎉

Her pickleball journey started with a phone call from her brother in Georgia, who asked if anyone was playing this new sport called pickleball. He told her she needed to find it because he knew she'd love it. And boy, was he right!

When asked what she loves most about Pickleville: the community and, of course, the ice cream!

Her game-point mindset is one we can all relate to. Whether she's winning or losing, her thought is the same: "Please don't screw up the shot that comes to me!" And her walk-up song? "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty. Sounds about right!

Linda believes pickleball makes getting older easier and a whole lot more fun. Her advice to new players? Keep it fun! We're not making money at this, so don't get too serious. Just enjoy the game!

When she's not at Pickleville, Linda works at the Davis YMCA, helping at the front desk, with pickleball, and with senior activities. She's also a serious weightlifter! 💪

And here's a fun fact you might not know: Back in 1963, Linda was voted Knox County's Most Valuable Women's Basketball Player! Clearly, she's been an athlete for a while! Oh, and if you need a quick lesson in serving the ball so it's good every time, she changed my game!

Linda, we're so glad you're part of the Pickleville family. Keep lifting, keep playing, and keep that ice cream coming! 💚

Every group of pickleball friends has that one player who will lob you until you want to retire from the sport. No shame. No variety. No apparent internal conflict about it. You take the kitchen line, you get comfortable, you start to feel good about yourself, and up it goes. Again. You backpedal, you flail, you hit an overhead into the next court over.

The worst part is that it works. The second worst part is that they know it works.

Today, we salute you, oh great Architect of the High Arc. Somebody in your group is reading this right now and thinking about you specifically. You should be ashamed...but we know you aren't.

Here is the thing about bad habits... if you don't work on them they stop feeling like habits. They just feel like your style. The chicken wing on your backhand. The way you back up on every lob. The serve you have been apologizing for since 2023... let's work on that! An hour with one of our pros will get you thinking about your game in a whole new way, will give you specific things you can work on when you drill and when you play, and will get you on the road to improvement.

Today is the big day! It's the inaugural United Way of Blount County Pickleball Tournament and Pickleville is proud to be the host of this event. Players will be taking the court all day today, so come on out and cheer on your friends if you aren't playing, and if you are playing, we'll see you soon! Hoping to see lots of familiar faces on the medal stand!
