This week’s Y Camp field trip: Zoo Knoxville! 🐾

The zoo is always a camper favorite, especially on overcast days like today, when the sun takes a break and the animals come out to play!

Every day at YMCA Summer Camp is packed with adventure, but some days are extra wild! It’s not every day you get up close with a tiger, feed a parakeet, or have a staring contest with a chimpanzee 🐅🦜🐒

Please join us in celebrating a very special milestone for one of our own!

Stephanie Cook, a dedicated YMCA of East Tennessee Board Member, is retiring from her incredible career with the City of Knoxville. As the City’s ADA Coordinator, Stephanie has been a passionate advocate for accessibility, helping make Knoxville a more welcoming place for all.

Her commitment to ensuring everyone has access to opportunity has made a lasting impact across our community, and within our Y.

We are so grateful for the role she continues to play on our corporate board and the difference she makes every day.

Congratulations, Stephanie, on your well-deserved retirement!

At the Y, we believe every child deserves access to healthy meals, and we’re always listening to those families we serve. Each week, we send parent surveys to make sure kids are enjoying the food options (because we hate waste!). That feedback helps us keep the kid favorites coming, know what parents appreciate most, and better serve our community.

What means the most to our team is the heartfelt gratitude shared from hard-working families who just need a little extra support putting food on the table this summer.

It wouldn’t be YMCA Summer Day Camp without our weekly swim trips! 💦☀️

Swim days are always a camper favorite, and we love heading over to the Pilot Family Y’s outdoor pool for all the fun. From the splash-worthy mushroom water feature to the kiddie pool for swimmers still building their confidence, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

And of course our friendly Y lifeguards are always on their J-O-B, making sure every camper stays safe while they make unforgettable summer memories.

That’s what summer at the Y is all about! 🏊‍♂️

July Swim Lessons are NOW OPEN for registration!

Don’t let another summer go by without your kids learning a life-saving skill! 🏊‍♀️

We’ve got flexible options to fit your schedule:
✔️ Once-a-week, month-long sessions (ex: Monday evenings in July)
✔️ Twice-a-week, month-long sessions (ex: Tues & Thurs evenings in July)
✔️ Week-long sessions (Mon–Thurs) for faster progress
✔️ Saturday-only sessions (July 11 – August 1); lessons won’t interfere with your 4th of July plans! 🇺🇸

Lessons available for every age:
👶 Parent/Child (6–36 months)
🧒 Preschool (ages 3–5)
🏊 Youth (ages 6–12)
💪 Teen & Adult (13+)

Making sure kids are fed, all summer long!

In Week 3 of our Summer Food Program, the Y served 28,151 meals across 10 drive-through grab-n-go sites, 6 YMCA summer day camps, and community lunches at our Pilot Y Outdoor Pool.

That brings our summer total to 80,267 meals and counting!

Every meal served is more than just a number. It’s one less worry for a parent, one more full belly, and one more kid ready to learn, play, and thrive.

We’re proud to stand in the gap for families across East Tennessee, and we can’t do it without you!
