This advice usually comes from a place of protecting you from injury, not from any actual biological wall that stops muscle growth. Your body still responds to resistance training the same way it always has. Hormones like relaxin do loosen your joints a bit, which is why form and range of motion matter more, but that’s a reason to train smarter, not a reason to stop lifting.

A lot of my clients actually build noticeable strength in the second trimester, especially if they were undertrained going into pregnancy. The body adapts to the demand you give it, pregnant or not.

What actually derails progress isn’t the lifting itself. It’s fear-based advice that convinces women to stop everything, then spend the postpartum period trying to rebuild strength they didn’t have to lose in the first place.

Strength training during pregnancy, done with the right modifications, sets you up for an easier labor and a faster recovery.

A lot of my clients come in assuming pregnancy means “maintain at best,” and they’re shocked when their strength actually goes up in the first and second trimester with the right programming. Progressive overload still works. It just has to be adjusted for your changing center of gravity, your joints, and your energy levels week to week.

The real risk isn’t lifting weights while pregnant. It’s stopping altogether and losing strength you’ll need for labor, recovery, and chasing a toddler around six months from now.

If you want a program that actually adjusts with you trimester by trimester, that’s exactly what I built the pregnancy coaching for.

How much protein do I need?

What suppliments compliment my medication?

How do I manage symptoms?

If you are thinking about going on a low does GLP-1 or are currently taking one and have asked any of these questions we built the anwser.

This 12 week program is made specifically for you and its almost here.
