The new permanent home of Strength Coach and Personal Trainer Jarrod D**e. The focus here will be semi-private coaching/training. When you come in to train you will be with no more than 1-2 other people. Everyone will be working out at the same time and creating a community of people that will be knowledgable and strong! If you want healthy shoulders or are worried about your shoulder health, don’t skip on your thoracic mobility.

These are 4 of my go to’s for t-spine mobility.

1 Bench T-Spine Extensions: Focus on pushing the hips back and letting your chest sink gradually, not forcefully
2 Quadruped T-Spine Mobility: Imagine your scap (shoulder blade) leading your body as you rotate
3 Side Lying Open Books: Focus on your shoulder movement, not your arm
4 Foam Roller T-Spine Extensions: Focus on the extension without putting it into your lower back

With so many people needing to address issues with their hips or related to hips, the seated 90-90 position is a good go to for me. As you can see, there’s plenty to work on with it and so much more that I didn’t even bring up.

Yes the progressions are as they appear

Stretches (you can do both legs then switch)
Rotations (again, same)
Switches….yeah they’re a work in progress for me

Master these and you’ll have some happier hips

Sound on 🎤, tried posting with captions, but good old technology did not wish to cooperate.

Posted on IG a few weeks ago, still worth a listen.

There are so many more victories to take away from training than the ones you can see with your eyes.

Also, I said attitude, mindset is probably the better word.

I have a standard of being able to do a goblet squat at 32 kgs before back or front squats, partly because I want to be sure the body can handle the weight on the upper half as much as the lower, to a certain extent. When someone’s lower body is clearly ready for the heavy stuff, but the upper half is struggling to stick with the program, these carries are a go to for such an occasion.

Goblet for most, Rack for those that feel like their shoulders are just a little too stuck in the forward position.

Hello again Facebook land, getting back to posting here instead of just IG (though you should check there often too). Today is about med-ball fun!

5 moves or developing power with a med-ball

Yes, I put these beautiful new med-balls to work right away. Med-ball training is not just russian twists and whatever other funky core exercise you can come up with. It’s a tool we can use to develop power for both gen pop and athletes.

The 5 in the video are the 5 I use the most with some variation on them depending on the person or athlete.

If I've gotten one thing down while being around and playing sports, it's knowing how to help athletes with recovery. Of course, that prompts me to put something out there to help as many as I can recover from competition, especially my rugby kin. I know the word rugby on it makes you think that’s all I’m looking to help, but seriously this can be for any athlete of any level. Those that know me probably assume I just couldn't help myself to put the word rugby in there, you're right. Seriously though, the stuff here will simply help you move and feel better after a competition day, I promise you.
