This weekend, **Bob Lewis Ballpark** is excited to welcome 27 teams to the **Top Gun Softball Battle of the Top Gun Custom Made Jumbo Rings**, September 19–20! 🏟️🥎

With teams competing across the **8U–16U divisions**, we’re looking forward to a weekend filled with great competition, teamwork, and plenty of big plays on the field! 🏆💪

We’re proud to welcome teams traveling from:

📍 **North Carolina** (Asheville, Bakersville, Brevard, Candler, Forest City, Franklin, Huntersville, Leicester, Marion, Mount Pleasant, Sylva, Waxhaw, Weaverville)

📍 **South Carolina** (Anderson, Gaffney, Westminster)

📍 **Tennessee** (Kingsport)

Bob Lewis Ballpark was excited to welcome everyone for the USSSA Labor Day NIT this Labor Day weekend! 🏟️⚾ With 11 teams competing from 10U through 13U, it’s been a great weekend of baseball, competition, teamwork, and fun on the diamond! 🏆🙌

The weather has brought some typical late-summer Western NC conditions, with plenty of warmth and sunshine mixed in with a few chances for showers and storms. 🌤️⛈️ Hopefully, everyone has been able to get plenty of baseball in!

❤️ In Loving Memory of Gary McDonald

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Richard Gary McDonald, Operations Director of Bob Lewis Ballpark, on July 1, 2026.

Gary dedicated his life to baseball, community, and serving others. A talented athlete, Enka High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, and former Baltimore Orioles signee, Gary carried his love for the game throughout his life—including his years playing with the Asheville Sox and being part of their 2019 Roy Hobbs World Series Championship team.

In his years leading Bob Lewis Ballpark, Gary became so much more than a director—he was a mentor, a supporter, and a friend to countless players, coaches, families, and volunteers. He especially loved creating opportunities for youth and special needs athletes to experience the joy of competition and being part of a team.

Gary will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, infectious smile, and the laughter he shared with everyone around him. His impact on our ballpark and our community is immeasurable.

Please join us in keeping Gary’s children, Patrick and Kasey, and all of his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Gary, for everything you gave to Bob Lewis Ballpark and the countless lives you touched along the way.
