The folks at Bob Lewis Ballpark will be scheduling their 2023 events sometime in October. That is when we will know our exact dates. As soon as we have permits for our time, we will announce our events and when each group will play.

South Hills (4-1) 16 - 4 over the Chiefs (4-1) for the Championship
Carolina Thunder (2-3) 9 - 7 over the Americans (0-5)
Carolina Rockies (4-1) 18- 0 over the Spiders (1-4)

With morning games in the books we head into our final games. Scores from the first round today:
South Hills 12 - Americans Baseball 2
Carolina Thunder 17 - Cleveland Spiders 1
Massachusetts Chiefs 13 - Carolina Rockies 11

Game home runs were hit by Kurt Reid and Doug Wright of the Rockies.

This sets up our final games:
4-0 Chiefs take on the 3-1 South Hills for the Championship
3-1 Rockies will face the 1-3 Spiders
1-3 Thunder go up against the 0-4 Americans

Well, this week went too fast. Today is the final day of the 2022 Blue Ridge Spring Dinger in beautiful Asheville, NC.

We had a total of 22 teams in 3 divisions - wow has this little idea grown- and it's in huge part to local baseball icon JD Hinson. We're forever grateful for his part in making the Dinger happen! A heart-felt thanks also to Gary McDonald and Bob Lewis Ball Park for their 100% support in making anything we can think of happen. In fact, mark you calendars for next year as we make it a little bigger. The 2023 Spring Dinger will run from April 17th through May 3 - we'll announce the specific division days / dates by September of this year. By popular demand we'll be adding another group of 60s teams and moving the 70s teams later in the series. More on our plans and how you can get your team in the drawing for slots forthcoming.

Another sunny day in the mountains and we'll start off with a morning game schedule of Spiders @ Americans; Rockies @ Thunder; and Chiefs @ South Hills.

This afternoon we'll be seeing the Thunder taking on the Chiefs; South Hills visit the Spiders; and the Americans will go up against the local Rockies.

Great start to our 60+B group of teams and a fun Home Run Derby to end the day.
Game 1 results:
Massachusetts Chiefs 13 - Americans 2
South Hills 16 - Thunder 2
Rockies 28 - Spiders 3

We had 14 players participate in our Home Run Derby which was won by Jim Boudreau of the Thunder with 4 dingers!

Three players hit home runs during the games:
Kurt Reid (1), Mike Radey (1), and Ernie Bordon hit 2 in his game!

Today we say goodbye and thank you to our first group of 60+ players and welcome our second group to the 2022 Blue Ridge Spring Dinger.

Congratulations! to the 60+ A Champs, the Pittsburgh 60s who defeated the Detroit Nationals by a score of 13-1 for the repeat.
Huntsville Havoc won 6-1 over the Rangers
NEO Stars beat the New Bern Bears8 - 7

Mike Homer, Troy Hanson and Dick Chappell each drove one out for Pittsburgh.

We got a bit of the rain before we were able to start our second games, but with these great turf fields we were able to get going again with only a short delay.

Detroit Nationals 9 - New Bern Bears 8

Day two of the 60+ A group and although the forecast is for a possibility of a sprinkle or two, the morning is beautiful! Currently the NEO All Stars are battling the Pittsburgh team; the Havoc are taking on the Bears; and the Blue Ridge Rangers and the Nationals are facing off.

Final scores from this morning:
Huntsville Havoc 15 - New Bern Bears 2
Detroit Nationals 2 - Blue Ridge Rangers 1 (in a 7 inning pitchers' duel)
Pittsburgh 15 - NEO All Stars 3

Tony Escamilla drove one over the fence for the Nationals and Bobby Vaughn powered one out for Pittsburgh. Both are now in the drawing for the bat giveaway.
