We have just trained three new instructors to teach our “Partnering with Poise: Care for the Care Partner” workshop.
We are looking for some friends in Asheville who might be interested in volunteering to attend our workshop sessions so that these new instructors can have the opportunity to practice teaching this curriculum. You do not need to currently be a care partner to attend.
Our new instructors are from Montana, Vermont, and Eastern North Carolina. After they finish their training week here in Asheville, they will go home and begin teaching these workshops to care partners in their local communities. Monika Gross, the Executive Director of The Poise Project, is the training instructor, and she will be supervising both workshop sessions.
"Partnering with Poise: Care for the Care Partner” is an evidence-based program originally developed by The Poise Project with funding from the Parkinson's Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Our workshop is adapted from Alexander technique, which is a well-established training in the performing arts to help manage stressful situations, prevent strain or injury, and improve overall functioning in daily life.
You will learn some practical skills that can help reduce stress and prevent physical strain, and feel refreshed at any time of day, without adding any extra time or tasks to your day.
