DALE SHIELD IS BACK !!!

"Welcome Back" was the first song that popped into my head when I heard we'd secured this awesome shield!!

Five years between beers... but who's counting ?!

What a rush to see the Dale Shield back at Hutt Valley Clay Target Club after five long years.

A huge shout-out to the crew who got it done — Zane, Jamie, Phil M, Dave and Phil B.

Special mention to Zane, our first-time grinner — what a way to make your mark (including nabbing HOA C Grade) !! And to Jamie, Phil M, Dave and Phil B, whose experience, calm heads and club pride helped show the way when it counted most.

The faces may change over the years, but the grins say the same thing... whoop whoop! 😄

And of course, a big woof-shout out to Rafa, Jamie's black lab, sitting proudly beside the Shield like he knew exactly what had just happened 🐾

A sincere thank you to the Hawkes Bay Clay Target Club for hosting this year's Dale Shield. Your hospitality, organisation and warm welcome were greatly appreciated and helped make for a fantastic weekend of shooting, camaraderie and friendly competition.

A massive shout-out must also go to the Woodville Clay Target Club team.

The shoot-off between Woodville and HVCTC was a fantastic contest and one that kept everyone on their toes right to the very end. Woodville pushed us hard, made us earn every target, and certainly didn't make life easy for us.

When the pressure came on and the nerves started to creep in, our team dug deep. With a couple of Veterans, a couple of Super Veterans, and Rafa quietly supervising proceedings, there was plenty of experience on hand to stay calm, trust the process, and get the job done.

Thank you Woodville for a great contest, great sportsmanship, and for being part of what made this year's Dale Shield such a memorable event.

To everyone who practised, prepared, supported, scored, loaded, cheered and believed — thank you. This win is yours too.

Teamwork. Commitment. Club spirit.

That's what brings the Shield home.

Whether you’re chasing the shield, chasing a PB, or just chasing the squad in front of you after a rough station — have an awesome weekend, enjoy the competition, and soak up the good people and good banter that makes our sport what it is.

Travel safe, shoot straight, and enjoy a cracking King’s Birthday long weekend in the Bay ☀️

Big few days ahead at Hutt Valley Clay Target Club:

✔ Coaching with Kade Wurster (Apex Coaching) running Friday through to Sunday
✔ Novice coaching on Saturday
✔ Members practice available all weekend
✔ S***t, DTL and Sporting fields open

Please note:

👉 5 Stand (Field 7) and, in parts, the Double Rise (Field 6) have been allocated to “Coaching with Kade”

👉 Heading up to Hawkes Bay this weekend for the Dale Shield?

Swing through Friday or Saturday morning and get a practice round or two in beforehand 😄 Good way to settle the nerves, clear the mind, and dust off any gremlins before competition weekend

👉 Or maybe you’re chasing those elusive North/South qualifier s***t scores ahead of next month’s 250 S***t Weekend (20–21 June) 👀

S***t fields will be open all weekend, so now’s the time to work out whatever is stopping you from nabbing those magical 25/25 ×4 😉🎯

👉 Setup and pack up of fields is the responsibility of members using them
👉 This includes collecting clay pickups at the end of each day
