NIMMO CUP FINAL 2026

The wait is over. The REDS are back in the Nimmo Cup Final!

It has been a long 13-year wait since Moturoa AFC last reached the Nimmo Cup Final, with the REDS finishing runners-up in 2013.

And if we're looking for when the REDS last held the Nimmo Cup aloft, you have to go all the way back to 1989.

Now, in 2026, the opportunity is here again.

The REDS booked their place in the final after a hard-fought penalty shootout victory over Peringa AFC, showing the fight and determination that is needed to make and compete on a Cup Finals Day.

The stage is set with the Nimmo Cup Final being the third of four finals being played across Taranaki Finals Day, when the REDS go head-to-head with across-town rivals NP Rangers.

Bring the support, make some sideline noise and wear the RED as the boys look to empty the tank and bring home some silverware.

A WEEKEND OF RED RESULTS!

Saturday saw TSH Moturoa AFC Division 3 finally break through for their first win of the season, clawing their way off the bottom of the table with a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Eltham AFC.

The Reds battled their way through the contest before Taylor Lucinsky unleashed a thunderous strike to seal all three points and give the side its chance to celebrate maximum points.

Then came THE BIG ONE on Sunday.

A top-of-the-table clash between Withers Moturoa AFC and Waitara SC that absolutely lived up to the hype. A fantastic, supportive crowd turned out for both sides and were rewarded with an entertaining game packed with end-to-end action.

The Reds took a 2–0 (Kate Carter, Ferny Toscani) lead into the halftime break, before Waitara came out firing in the second half and piled on the pressure. The Moturoa defence stood firm, soaking up everything thrown at them to hold on for a massive 2–1 victory.

With the three points, the RREDS extend their lead at the top of the table to 4 points.

Waitara do have a game in hand, meaning the Reds will have to wait until September 20 for their next opportunity to add that second hand to the silverware. 🏆

SENIOR FIXTURES SEPT 5/6

Saturday will see the TSH Men's Division 3 side play their last game of the season. The young development focussed side (with a sprinkling of experience) would love your support from the sidelines as they look to bank 3 points to round out their campaign.

Sunday sees a top of the table blockbuster at Onuku Taipari as the Withers Coachline Moturoa AFC Women host Waitara SC in what promises to be an exciting and hotly contested fixture.

The winner will put one hand on the league title for season 2026 and when these two sides meet you are guaranteed end to end action.

RESULTS SATURDAY AUG 29

Our Division 2 (reserves) side continued their brilliant run of form with a dominant win to wrap up the season in 5th place. This is a very pleasing result given the four teams above us are all first-team squads from other clubs.

The TSH Division 3 side battled hard all match vs Kaponga. They'll be looking to bounce back in their final home fixture next weekend when they host Eltham AFC.

A thrilling last day of the season battle for the Masters! After taking a comfortable 2-0 lead early on, the team fell behind before leveling the score. A late winner from FC Western sealed the match, leaving our lads to finish as proud league runners-up for 2026.

TARANAKI MASTERS LEAGUE FINALE

It all comes down to the final day of the season with three teams still in the running to claim the title, and the Wither Coachlines REDS are one of them.

Our men in RED currently sit at the very top of the table, holding a razor-thin one-point lead over both NPR and Kaitake FC who face off on the final day of the league.

With everything on the line, they are gunning for a victory to ensure they control their own destiny and secure the league championship.

As the current holders of the league's Challenge Trophy, the side are hungry to add even more silverware to the club's display case. But to get over the finish line, they need your noise and energy from the touchline!

ALL EYES ON THE MENS MASTERS SIDE THIS WEEKEND

Our Division 2 side travels to Turuturu Park to square off against Hawera FC at 12:45pm, and will feature as part of Haweras 40 year celebrations.

Simultaneously, TSH Moturoa AFC takes on Kaponga at Victoria Park in Division 3. Both teams will be eager to lock in three points and make a statement in their second to last leahgue outings of the season.

The Main Event is a Masters Title Decider fixture.

All eyes will be on FDMC Pitch 1 at 3:00pm as Withers Moturoa AFC takes the pitch against FC Western in the ultimate high-stakes match. Sitting at the top of the table by a solitary point heading into the final round, the title race is on a knife-edge with three teams mathematically capable of taking out the championship.

A victory on Saturday would secure Moturoa AFC its first men’s league title in years outside of the senior first team's broad history of success. The lads need your support to bring the trophy home.

NIMMO CUP FINAL LOCKED AND LOADING

What a match! Our Moturoa AFC Reserves side has shown incredible fight to draw level at 3–3 in the 85th minute, just one minute after conceding.

This decisive goal sent the semifinal thriller straight to a penalty shootout!

Jack Richardson (17) and Ollie Hill with the equalising header, had put goals on the board to keep us right in the fight during regular time and when it came down to spot-kicks, the REDS were the side to hold their nerve.

YOUTH FINALS DAY A HUGE SUCCESS

"Bringing Football to the Community -He Whutupaoro ki te hapori"

What an awesome day at Onuku Taipari Domain on Saturday August 22.

Four hotly contested youth finals, two cup and two plate, were played in front of an excited crowd of whanau, friends and the local community.

With 8 teams of up and coming players participating on the day, we saw some exciting games, great goals, loads of talent and most importantly a large number of players and spectators enjoying the occasion.

We thank everyone who came along and made it such a great finals environment and also Central Football - Taranaki for giving Moturoa AFC the opportunity to host the event.

2026 WOMENS FEDERATION CUP FINAL

The REDS head south this weekend for the 2026 Federation Cup Final, our 7th appearance in the showpiece match.

It’s been a fantastic journey to get here, and now there’s just one more away trip, and one more game... the final.
