Sunday 9th August

Kia ora whānau,

With the U13 Muster scheduled for this Sunday (9 August, 9:30am–12:30pm), we’re keeping a close eye on the bad weather forecast.

To help families plan ahead, Nelson Hockey will confirm tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:00 PM whether the muster will go ahead.

Today marked the final round of the 2026 NHA Primary Grade season, along with our Certificate Presentation Day! 🎉

A huge THANK YOU to all our players, coaches, managers, umpires, volunteers, and families who helped make this season such a success. Your enthusiasm, commitment, and support have created a fantastic hockey experience for everyone involved. 💙

👏 Congratulations to all our young players on a wonderful season of learning, teamwork, improvement, and fun. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved both on and off the turf.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 season so memorable.

TASMAN REGIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOL HOCKEY FESTIVAL 2026

Get ready for two fantastic days of fun, teamwork, and school spirit out on the turf!

We’re excited to welcome schools from across the region to the Nelson Hockey Turfs at Saxton Field for this year’s Primary School Festivals.

🏑 Festival Dates
• Years 3 & 4: Tuesday 8 September (Postponement: 10 September)
• Years 5 & 6: Tuesday 15 September (Postponement: 17 September)

🕤 Time: 9:30am – 2:00pm

👕 Uniform: All teams must wear their school uniform.

🧑‍⚖️ Referees: Each school is required to provide a referee for their team’s games.

🎮 Format: Round robin tournaments across mixed, boys, and girls grades (depending on entries). All games follow Hockey NZ Mini Sticks Advanced Rules.

⏱️ Game Length: 15 minute games with 5 minute changeovers.

🩹 First Aid: Schools must bring their own first aid kits.

🏑 Equipment: Players should bring their own sticks and balls.

NHA has limited gear available to borrow if needed. Mouthguards and shin pads recommended.

☕ Café Open: Food and drinks available throughout the day.

📧 Draws: Will be emailed directly to schools.

We can’t wait to see our young players out on the turf giving it their all, learning, laughing, and representing their schools with pride.

Let’s make this another brilliant festival for our tamariki and community!

We’re excited to celebrate the final round of our 2026 Junior Hockey Season with all Primary and Intermediate players, families, coaches, managers ,umpires and supporters!

🎉 Participation Certificates will be presented as follows:

PRIMARY GRADES
🕔 5:40 PM – Certificate Presentation (after their round)

INTERMEDIATE GRADES
🕔 5:40 PM – First group (after their round)
🕕 6:40 PM – Second group (after their round)
🕖 7:40 PM – Third group (after their round)

As we wrap up the season, we want to extend a special acknowledgement to all our Clubs, Coaches, Managers, and Umpires for the support, guidance, and commitment you provide week after week. Your contribution is a vital part of our junior hockey pathway.

And a very special mention to Brad Parker for the outstanding work he has done this season mentoring our junior umpires. His dedication and leadership have made a significant impact on their development and confidence on the turf.
