Always a pleasure catching up with the Chair of the Saxton Field Committee. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for our sporting venues. 💚

Great to catch up today with our Saxton Field Stadium Manager as part of my regular catch-ups as Chair of the Joint Saxton Field Committee.

Saxton Stadium was recently voted Best CLM Stadium in New Zealand, and Venue Manager James is up for Rising Star at the Momentus Venue Awards!

Congratulations James and the entire stadium team

We are very excited to share that James, our Facility Manager is a finalist at the Evanz - Entertainment Venues Association NZ Awards. He has been recognised in the Rising Star of the Year category.

Since starting at Saxton Field, James has done an amazing job in overseeing multiple facilities including the very popular Saxton Stadium and Saxton Oval. In the two years that James has been managing the facilities, they have seen a 48% increase in use.

James was instrumental in overseeing the inclusion of the much loved Saxton Kiosk at the stadium which has proven very popular during regional tournaments as well as local sporting competitions.

We think that the whole team at Saxton Field is amamzing and deserving of praise, however it is great to see James recognised with this nomination.

Making the news even more exciting is the fact James is joined as a finalist with CLM colleague Andy from Trafalgar Venues.

The Awards are being held at Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch in early December. Wishing both James and Andy all the best for the awards evening.

Doing our bit for Aotearoa! 🇳🇿

Our CLM Saxton Team have been out in the community, rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in to pick up rubbish and waste around our local area. 🧤🗑️

Here in beautiful Nelson, we’re lucky to be surrounded by stunning landscapes and a community we’re proud to call home. 🌿☀️ We all have a part to play in keeping Aotearoa clean, green and beautiful for future generations.

It’s about more than just picking up rubbish , it’s about kaitiakitanga (guardianship of our environment) and taking responsibility for the places we live, work and play. 🌏💚

A massive shoutout to our team for getting behind this initiative and showing that a little community spirit can go a long way!

He waka eke noa – we’re all in this together! 🇳🇿🙌

We’re loving the Nelson Tasman Filipino Tournament which is on this weekend. It’s competitive but with some wonderful connections and reconnecting.

⚽️ An honour to host the Annual Walking Football Competition for Prostate Cancer at Saxton Stadium! 💙

It was fantastic to welcome everyone to Saxton Stadium for this great event, bringing together the walking football community while helping raise awareness of an incredibly important cause.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in New Zealand, with thousands of men diagnosed each year. Importantly, prostate cancer can develop without obvious symptoms, particularly in its early stages.

So, a reminder to the men out there: don’t wait until you have symptoms to think about your prostate health. If you’re over 50, or have a family history of prostate cancer, talk to your GP about whether prostate testing is appropriate for you. Testing can include a PSA blood test and a prostate examination, depending on your individual circumstances.

If you notice symptoms such as difficulty urinating, a weak or interrupted flow, blood in your urine or semen, or persistent pain in your lower back or pelvis, speak with your healthcare professional. (Health New Zealand)

Get checked. Know your risk. Look after yourself. 💙

🏆 STADIUM OF THE YEAR 2026! 🏆

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Saxton Stadium has been named CLM’s Stadium of the Year for 2026! 🎉

Recently, CLM held its annual awards in Auckland, bringing together managers from across the country to represent their respective venues , and we’re incredibly proud to bring this award home to Nelson! 🥇

This award is a reflection of the incredible people who make Saxton Stadium what it is.

A huge thank you to all of our amazing CLM staff and contractors, our resident sporting codes, the incredible event organisers who choose Saxton, Nelson City Council and most importantly, our participants and community. ❤️

We simply couldn’t have won this without every single one of you. From the athletes stepping onto the courts, to the volunteers, coaches, organisers, cleaners, contractors and staff working behind the scenes... this is your award too!

Saxton Stadium is more than just a building, it’s a place where sport, community, events and people come together, creating experiences and memories that bring our community together.

Thank you for making Saxton Stadium what it is. This one is for all of you! 🏆💙
