A timely reminder of the history and whakapapa of Wgtn Rugby League arrived in a package at the office. WRL was established in 1912. Since that time countless players, officials, coaches, families, individuals and teams have contributed to the game. Received from Don Millar ( former WRLRA executive) and on behalf of his late wife Jo ( former WRL Secretary). Both were very prominent in the game during the 70s - 2000s. Thank you for the memorabilia which in themselves reflect things like the structure, roles, teams and what were glory days for the game of the era.

Its . The 4th and final pou or pillar in the Te Hiringa Tamariki framework that we have been exploring over the past few weeks is called Te Ao – The World. Te Ao in the context of this framework refers to people having their hauora enhanced when the environment we provide helps them believe in their ability to flourish (grow) in the world inside and outside of rugby league. Through building confidence, self respect and respect for others. We already said that if rugby league provides an environment for Ihi ( Excitement / hope/aspiration) , Atua (Spirituality / a state of calm), and Whanaungatanga/ Pākanga ( making connections) , then these are all things which enhance hauora and make us better people ( on and off the field). Combined they help us flourish or grow in the rugby league world. We feel a sense of mana from being involved with rugby league and we carry this outside of the game. We flourish and grow in the world when we provide the environment to make that happen. With the right approach rugby league can provide a mana enhancing environment so that our people can walk confidently in and outside of the world of rugby league. How do you enhance the mana of your team, club, community so that people flourish in and outside of the world ( Te Ao) of rugby league ?...Mauri Ora.
