New to this winter sea*on, we brought together a group of tamariki from different primary schools across the Hutt Valley after hearing from parents and schools who weren't able to field their own teams.

For us, this is a great example of one of our club values, ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜, creating opportunities for our tamariki to stay involved in the game, build their skills, and enjoy being part of a team.

We are excited to see this group grow together throughout the sea*on and proud to be able to support more players in continuing their netball journey ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ

Ulalei Wainuiomata Netball Club enjoyed a competitive and rewarding weekend at the Walter Nash Netball courts with several teams producing standout performances.

In the Premier 1 grade, Ulalei Mฤlili (HEDZ Hair Salon) proved too strong for Maidstone, leading from start to finish in a composed 44โ€“38 victory. The win not only secured valuable points but also denied Maidstone a crucial bonus point. Mฤlili now sit in third place on the ladder and continue to build momentum as the competition unfolds.

In the other Premier 1 game Ulalei Aute (TIME Insurance) was involved in one of the weekendโ€™s most exciting encounters narrowly going down to St Orans Club by a single goal 43-42. After trailing by five goals heading into the final quarter Aute mounted a determined comeback but fell short by one goal in a nail-biting finish.

Ulalei Puฤlulu celebrated their first win of the sea*on with a hard-fought 29โ€“28 victory over Naenae Collegians. Building on last weekโ€™s draw Puฤlulu showed patience and determination, overturning a 14โ€“11 halftime deficit to claim the win. The teamโ€™s steady improvement signals a promising trajectory as the sea*on progresses.

There was plenty to celebrate for Ulalei Matalafi who also recorded their first victory of the sea*on with a convincing 25โ€“15 win against Tautoko Aiga. The defensive duo of Fuli Patea and Akeyla Nyanduga were instrumental, consistently picking off intercepts and securing rebounds. Their efforts provided the perfect platform for the shooting combination of mother and daughter, Matie Whitman and shooting sensation Isabella Peniata, who converted these opportunities for their team.

In other results across the competition Ulalei Ifilele (Nuku Ora) edged High School Old Girls 33โ€“31 in a close contest, while Ulalei Mosoโ€™oi proved too strong for Tautoko Aiga with a 30โ€“19 win. Ulalei Lagaโ€™ali secured a 32โ€“28 victory over Petone Panthers and Ulalei Nonu delivered an emphatic 29โ€“14 performance against Te Rito.

Although not all results went their way Ulalei Wainui J7s, Ulalei Fuesina (Nuku Ora) and Ulalei Teuila were all involved in tight matches, suffering narrow losses. Meanwhile, Ulalei Puataunofo (Muzzy Shirts) faced a strong Wellington Menโ€™s team and showed glimpses of brilliance on both attack and defence. If they can string these together into a full 60 minute performance, they have the potential to be a formidable force in the competition.
Ulalei Wainuiomata Netball proudly acknowledges and sincerely thanks their valued sponsors Pak n Save Lower Hutt, Stilh Store Petone & Upper Hutt, Just Beauty, Light House Petone, Shoe Clinic Lower Hutt and Pak n Save Petone.

In the Premier 1 grade Ulalei Aute (TIME Insurance) made light work of their game against St Orans Club, leading from start to finish to secure an impressive 55โ€“44 win. The margin could have been even greater if not for a number of unforced errors.

In the other Premier 1 match Ulalei Mฤlili (Hedz for Hair Salon) were involved in an intense battle with Naenae Collegians. The teams went goal for goal with the lead changing hands numerous times. Naenae Collegians held a narrow 20โ€“19 lead at halftime, but by the end of the third quarter Ulalei Mฤlili had edged ahead 28โ€“27. In the final quarter Mฤlili used their skills and experience to extend their lead and take the game 39โ€“35.

Ulalei Puฤlulu featured in the game of the round in the Senior 1 grade. After a slow start High School Old Girls led 19โ€“13 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter Puฤlulu had reduced the deficit to five goals trailing 26โ€“21. Enter the defensive unit of goal keep Moriah Sopoaga and goal defence Reaghan Faaifo who put the burners on and started picking off deflections, rebounds and intercepts, all beautifully finished by the goal shooters Carly Tapa, Leah Fisher and Shanรฉ Lotriet.

Puฤlulu fought back strongly to salvage a 31โ€“31 draw. This result could prove to be a turning point for the team, providing a much needed confidence boost. Coach Clayton Marino and assistant coach Lahraine Sagaga will be pleased with the progress shown by this team.

Ulalei teams recorded dominant wins in the weekend with Ulalei Mosoโ€™oi winning 35-26 over St Orans club. Ulalei Wainui J7s were too strong for High School Old Girls- 30-18. Ulalei Lagaโ€™ali were in command over Manaia Whanau 40-20. Ulalei Fuesina (Nuku Ora) remain unbeaten with an emphatic 47-25 victory over Upper Hutt Rams.

Meanwhile Ulalei Ifilele (Nuku Ora), Ulalei Nonu and Ulalei Teuila all hit a bump this week with losses but will look to return to winning ways in the next round. While Puataunofo (Muzzy Shirts) and Matalafi are working hard towards their first win of the sea*on.
