Only 2 games for our Junior club today.

One was our Year 8 Hawks 🦅

It was a great morning for rugby despite the rain over the last couple of days, with the Hawks taking on the Norths Bulldogs in an entertaining, high-scoring contest.

The Hawks were dominant for large periods of the first half and showed some excellent attacking rugby. However, defensive lapses proved costly, allowing Norths to ultimately take the win.

Levi Mua’au and Kiana Kairau-Mathie were standouts on attack with ball in hand, creating opportunities and keeping the Bulldogs under pressure throughout the match.

Zac Gartrell had some outstanding runs on the wing, proving elusive and difficult to contain. His performance earned him the Norths Player of the Day award.

Our Player of the Day was Cam who produced an outstanding all-round performance. He was aggressive in attack, strong on defence, and maintained a huge work rate from start to finish.

Team Man of the Day went to Dallas Cathro, a well-deserved recognition for his consistent contributions throughout the season. His excellent goal kicking continues to make a huge difference for the team each week and often goes unrewarded.

This week the Y3 Kāhu battled the Axes from Wellington club in a free flowing game, the boys are still getting to grips with tackle so there were tries aplenty both teams but the boys never stopped and gave it their all.

Big shout out to Rereahu and Taika for playing for the Axes as they were short !

- Our New World voucher player of the day went to Izzy who carried well and made a bunch of tackles!
- The Axes player of the day to us went to Ezekiel who was everywhere!
- Our Hells pizza award for trainer of the week this week went to Ruaan who has recently joined us and is getting better every week!
- Our Puku Pies supporter of the week went to Lochie’s grandad Leith who’s positive (and loud) cheering could be heard across Helston Park!📣

A lot of rugby this coming week with practice and game plus the Community rugby festival next Sunday which we’re looking forward to it 🙂

Johnsonville Hawks Y8 Match Report

It was a beautiful day for rugby as the Johnsonville Hawks took on Ories in a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire. In a match where the lead changed hands several times, the Hawks showed tremendous determination and composure to score in the final minute and seal a memorable victory.

The tries went back and forth throughout the game, making it thriller. The Hawks' try scorers were Harrison Tocker, Levi Mau'au, Jayden Love, and Zac Gartrell, while cool-hand Dallas Cathro kept the scoreboard ticking over by slotting most of the conversions with a 72% success rate and a massive contribution to our win

Our Player of the day award went to Jayden with his gutsy effort and came back from a blood nose to score a superb try.

Best team man award went to Harrison Tocker who had an overall around excellent game (and even slotted into Line out throwing)

Levi Mau'au was Ories pick for player of the day as for his physicality and three tries.

Overall today was a true team effort, with every player contributing to a hard-fought win. The Hawks can be proud of the way they stuck together and battled until the very end. It was a fantastic start to the competition rounds, and the team will be looking to build on the performance when they take on the Norths Bulldogs next week.

The J’ville Year 4 Warriors took on the Newlands Cyclones today in an exciting match, with both teams crossing the try line multiple times. It was fantastic to see some great attacking play including some awesome side stepping and runaway tries. But it was just as impressive to watch the strong defence on display, with players making some excellent tackles and practicing their bridging skills and support play throughout the game.

🏆 Congratulations 🏆
New World Player of the Day – Cadence
Hell Pizza Player of the Day – Reign
Opposition Player of the Day – Raven
Best Tackler – Lewis

🥧 Puku Pies Supporter of the Week 🥧
This week’s award goes to Lewis’s dad, Steve, who has been gunning hard for this homour in recent weeks and finally claimed the glory 🙌🏼

This morning the J’ville Yr 4 Warriors competed in the Misiluni Moananu Junior Memorial Shield. The team played 3 tough matches, coming away with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. Every game was close and nail-biting right through to the final whistle.

It was awesome to see the players continuing to develop their skills throughout the tournament. The Warriors showed great determination on defence, with some outstanding tackling across all 3 games.
We are incredibly proud of the team — even with tired bodies, they kept battling right until the end.

A big thank you to coaches Sef and Galu for their guidance and encouragement throughout the games, and to all the supporters who came to cheer the team on.

Thanks to Pōneke for the invite and thanks to the Moananu family for the opportunity for us to be a part of this beautiful ongoing legacy ❤️🖤

Up the Wah’s! 💙🏉
