In 1997, West City Baseball Club began with a simple idea:

Create a place for people in West Auckland to play baseball.

Almost three decades later, that idea is still at the heart of everything we do.

But the journey has grown.

From first swings to championship games.

From little kids discovering baseball to players representing their region and country.

From parents bringing their children along to volunteers giving their time.

From teammates becoming lifelong friends.

West City is more than a baseball club.

It's a place to start.

Love seeing baseball find new homes across Auckland! ⚾ There's never been a better time to get involved in this sport.

If you're in West Auckland and wondering where your nearest club is — hi, we're right here 👋

West City started in 1997 when local baseballers, who'd been making the trek across the bridge to the North Shore every week, decided West Auckland deserved its own diamond. They built McLeod Park's first one by hand. Nearly 30 years on, we're still that same community-first club.

This season we're sharing facilities with our softball neighbours while McLeod Park gets renovated, and we're actively building our teams across all grades.

Kids, teens, adults, complete beginners — everyone's welcome. We keep things affordable and community-focused because we believe baseball should be for anyone who wants to play.

NZBUA Umpire School 2026 is on 16-18 October in Auckland, and it's free to attend.

The school runs across three days and builds progressively. We start with rules and game management theory, move into on-field mechanics and plate work, then finish with live game situations and a full scrimmage so you can apply what you've learned under game conditions.

It's open to umpires at every level, from those just starting out to experienced umpires wanting to sharpen their mechanics and positioning.
