County U16 Poc Fada

Congrats to Aoife Haughey Naomh Dominic who won the County Roscommon U16 Camogie Poc Fada. Well done to Ciara Mannion, Four Roads Camogie Club who was runner up.

Aoife and Ciara will now represent Roscommon in the
Connacht Poc Fada in Bekan on the 6th July.

End of Year School Camogie Blitz at Kilglass GAA Pitch

Pupils from Rooskey National School and Ballyfeeney National School came together today for a very successful End of Year School Camogie Blitz held at Kilglass GAA pitch.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to enjoy a day of sport, teamwork and fun as they celebrated the end of another school year. Girls from both schools participated enthusiastically, displaying excellent skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.

This year's blitz was particularly significant as it marked the first year that camogie was played in the schools. The girls embraced the opportunity with great enthusiasm, showcasing the skills they had learned and demonstrating a strong interest in the game. It was encouraging to see such positive participation and enjoyment, and it is hoped that camogie will continue to grow and flourish in both schools in the years ahead.

The atmosphere throughout the day was one of friendship and community spirit, with pupils supporting one another and enjoying the chance to meet and play alongside their peers from neighbouring schools. Teachers and organisers were delighted with the excellent behaviour and positive attitude displayed by all participants.

A sincere word of thanks is extended to Kilglass GAA Club for the use of their excellent facilities, to the teachers and volunteers who helped organise the event, and to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success.

Each girl was presented with a sliotar by Tom Killion, Co Roscommon Camogie Growth and Participation Officer.

As the dust settled on a glorious day of sunshine in Dr Hyde Park yesterday, the Roscommon Premier Junior Camogie team can head into the next two weeks of preparation with the knowledge that their hard work is paying off.

Three wins from three against Kildare, Tyrone and Wicklow have secured a place in the semi-final, setting up a huge showdown. While their two toughest tests in the group stages still lie ahead, yesterday’s impressive display, which yielded a remarkable 7-21, showed that this team has nothing to fear.

Getting the opportunity to play in Dr Hyde Park was an added bonus for the players. The wide-open spaces and immaculate surface provided the perfect stage to showcase their skills and attacking flair.

This squad has developed a tremendous work ethic, and that was evident throughout yesterday’s performance. Every player played their part in a huge team effort, one that reflects the commitment and dedication being shown on and off the field. With confidence growing and momentum building, Roscommon can look forward to the semi-final with belief and excitement.

A sincere thank you to everyone who came out to support the team yesterday especially the Oran u-10 team, who gave our players a lovely clap onto the pitch and played at half time. Your encouragement from the sidelines made a real difference. We now ask the wider Roscommon community to spread the word and get behind this group of players. They have represented the county with pride, commitment and determination, and they deserve the full backing of Roscommon as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
