u-16 Division 1 County Final
MKL 2-8 Southern Gaels 1-10
Congratulations to the girls and management team on a fantastic win against Southern Gaels in the Division 1 U-16 County Final on Monday evening. We did it the hard way in the end with a tough semi final and replay and a close finish in the final, which is always a great way to win a championship.
Titles aren’t just won on the evening but are as a result of lots of hard work by players and management throughout the year.
Preparation for the season began with strength and conditioning in Studio 7 gym in Killarney last January and training continued on Milltown Astro Pitch and Ballymalis in all kinds of weather good and bad!
We used the East Kerry league to develop as a team and integrate our Kerry players back on the team, reaching the final and loosing to ISG in a close game.
The target from the start of the year was always to win the Division 1 county championship.
Highlights of our county campaign was a great start with a home win to Annascaul and great away wins in tough venues like Kenmare v ISG and Gallerus v Corca Duibhne.
The semi final draw and replay games and the final, were memorable for the pace, intensity, physicality and tension on display and were knockout championship games at their best.
