Shooters take part at various levels. There is the entry level and club practices, and various inter-club leagues. The Association also runs up to 400 Nationally Registered Competitive Shoots every year. Through these shoots, shooters can gain points on a National Leader Board per Discipline, which is used to select the Ireland Teams that represent Ireland at international Competitions. The shooters who gain experience at this level often form the development pool of shooters for the next level up, the World ISSF and Olympic Competitions. Registered Shoots and Qualification Shoots are held for the Olympic Disciplines of Olympic Trap (OT) and Olympic S***t (OSK). At these, the shooters can qualify to compete for Ireland at International Championships, at World ISSF Events and at the Olympics. Our membership covers the thirty two counties and carries on the sport through the Clubs affiliated to the Association. The ICTSA’s (formerly ICPSA) National Shooting Grounds is at Banagher, Co. Great to see the benefits of international training already paying off! 🇮🇪🇮🇹

Recently, the ICTSA Junior High Performance Development Squad travelled to Italy for an intensive training camp, gaining invaluable experience and exposure at the highest level of the sport.

During their visit, the squad had the honour of being hosted to dinner by the President of the International Shooting Sport Federation, Luciano Rossi, a fantastic recognition of the work being done to support the development of our young shooters.

The squad was accompanied by our High Performance coaches Jack Fairclough and Matthew Coward-Holley, the latter an Olympic Bronze Medallist, who provided world-class coaching and mentorship throughout the camp.

This fantastic opportunity was made possible through the work of Allison Fairclough, ICTSA High Performance Director, who organised and supported the camp as part of the ongoing development of our junior athletes.

And the impact was immediate…

This weekend, Amy O’Sullivan, one of our Junior squad members who attended the camp, returned home and produced a fantastic performance to take High Gun at the weekend’s Olympic Trap Registered Competition. 👏

A brilliant result and a great example of how these training opportunities help our young athletes develop and perform at the highest level.

Well done Amy and all involved!

We are saddened to announce the passing of Gary Foy

It is with deep sadness that the ICTSA marks the passing of our esteemed colleague and friend Gary Foy.

Gary was a valued board member of the ICTSA and a tireless advocate for clay target shooting in Ulster and nationwide. As Secretary of the Ulster Clay Target Shooting Association, a member of the ICTSA Executive, and founder of Clayshot Magazine, he dedicated countless hours to the promotion and development of our sport. A proud former member of the Ireland DTL team, Gary was particularly passionate about encouraging junior participation.

Widely respected for his commitment and enthusiasm, Gary was a true ambassador for clay target shooting. His contribution to the ICTSA and the wider shooting community will be remembered with gratitude and admiration.

Beyond shooting, Gary was well known throughout Donegal for his involvement in soccer and photography, generously giving his time to many organisations. His professionalism and dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

On behalf of the Irish Clay Target Shooting Association, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his wife Carmel and his children Catherine, Conor, Sian, and Ciaran. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this profoundly difficult time.
