Darren was never someone who didn’t know what to do.⁣

He’s running history will show you that, ⁣

Most runners don’t lose their ability.⁣

They lose their identity.⁣

What worked for the old version of Darren…⁣

Didn’t fit the current one.⁣

Nobody talks about the hardest part of getting older,⁣

Your life changes before your identity does.⁣

The responsibilities increase.⁣

The demands grow.⁣

Work gets busier.⁣

Family evolves.⁣

Recovery slows down.⁣

So trying to operate like nothing changed is a recipe for disaster,⁣

⁣Chasing the standards of a version of themselves that no longer exists.⁣

And when it stops working?⁣

They blame themselves.⁣

That was Darren.⁣

Every race started with the same intention:⁣

“I know I can do this.”⁣

But his approach was built around his old reality.⁣

He’d arrive at races exhausted, ⁣

Wondering what happened to the runner he used to be.⁣

The breakthrough was accepting he needed some help, ⁣

Fast forward to today.⁣

Darren is 50 years old.⁣

His responsibilities haven’t disappeared.⁣

If anything, they’ve increased.⁣

The same pressures are still there.⁣

But now?⁣

He’s training for his first ever marathon.⁣

Running faster than he has in over a decade.⁣

Because he evolved.⁣

And that’s the lesson.⁣

It’s about becoming the person who can perform inside the life you actually have.⁣

Another great session with the Wrexham legends tonight.

It was my first bit of contact since my surgery, it felt great to get stuck in again.

Here’s how Stephen lost 10kg in 6 months.⁣

This wasn’t his first time working with us.⁣

The first time around, he achieved some incredible results.⁣

But then life happened.⁣

Work got busy.⁣

Family needed more of his attention.⁣

So he decided to go it alone for a while.⁣

To be fair, he did okay.⁣

He kept entering events.⁣

Stayed active.⁣

Ticked over nicely.⁣

But there was one problem.⁣

In his own words, he was “𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨.”⁣

And that’s fine…⁣

Until it isn’t.⁣

Because maintaining isn’t the same as progressing.⁣

So 6 months ago, we got back to work.⁣

And the changes weren’t dramatic.⁣

In fact, they were surprisingly simple.⁣

✅ He stopped drinking alcohol during the week.⁣

✅ He committed to training at least twice every week, combining running and strength work.⁣

✅ He started preparing his meals and taking them to work, which stopped the constant grazing and the evening “catch-up eating” that was undoing his hard work.⁣

That’s it.⁣

No crazy diets.⁣

No six-day training weeks.⁣

No extreme challenges.⁣

Just a handful of habits that were realistic enough to repeat week after week.⁣

And that’s where everything changed.⁣

Because Stephen wasn’t inconsistent before.⁣

His consistency just wasn’t aligned with the result he wanted.⁣

Now it is.⁣

6 months later:⁣

➡️ 10kg lighter⁣

➡️ Running personal bests without specifically training for them⁣

➡️ Looking years younger⁣

Not bad for a dad of two who’s working all the hours God sends.⁣

The biggest lesson?⁣

Most people don’t need a new plan.⁣

They need a plan they can actually stick to.⁣

Incredible work, mate.⁣

A busy Sunday in the Massam household,⁣

An early start to polish off some work for the week ahead.⁣

Into a 30km bike ride, ⁣

I’m 3 weeks out from my first ever Olympic distance triathlon, ⁣

I’m a little nervous I won’t lie.⁣

I finished the day completing a little household project,⁣

Just some flooring to lay and we’re good to go💪🏻⁣

A lesson for you to take into this week,⁣

How differently could you approach a challenge you’re facing right now?⁣

Sometimes a little perspective is all you need.⁣
