There’s something about me pushing myself out of my comfort zone that triggers people. The amazing Anna McNuff describes it as “fear vomiting”.

People are either genuinely excited for me, or think I’m mad. Then there’s people who can only react negatively. Thankfully not many of those. But I wonder why people are like that. Envy? Hate?

Whenever someone says I can’t do something, I reply “stand back and watch me” 💪

I’m delighted to be speaking at Debrief Adventure Festival. Held at The Church (Ipswich) on Sat 13 Jun at 7:00 pm, I’ll be discussing wild swimming, stand-up paddleboarding and other adventures on the water.

I will be doing one of the talks, plus there will also be exhibition stands from local organisations and clubs, charities you can get involved with to support the outdoors, a kit-swap, and competitions. I’ll also be selling copies of my book, Swimming Wild in South East England.

You’ll also have the awesome facilities at The Church to enjoy - we hope you join us to make this a night to remember.

Two good friends, who only met this year after following each other on social media. One had written a book on paddling in London. One had written a book on swimming in London and the South East.

Since then they have had several adventures together and have now come together for TWO amazing talks in London. 💙🏊‍♀️🏄‍♀️

If you love adventure and are dying to hear about wild swimming and paddleboarding in London and other places, then these are the events for you!

Join authors Natasha Sones and My SUP Stories at two special talks in London this July.

💙 Natasha Sones and Anu Aladin will be speaking at Stanfords Travel Covent Garden on 7 July 2026 at 7pm for an evening of real paddle and swim stories, connections, practical tips and ideas you can use locally or further away! Ticket with both books costs: £38 (save £12!) or tickets are £8.00 each, including a complimentary glass of wine/soft drink on arrival. Both Anu’s and Natasha’s books will be sold 20% off on the evening, but it is better value to buy them with the ticket in advance.

💙 The pair will also be at Alpkit Kingston store in the evening for an Adventure Talk and Book Signing. From 6.30-9pm, this event is FREE and you can buy both their books. Curious about overnight paddleboarding trips, multi-day paddles or urban swims and paddles? Come along for an evening of real paddle stories, practical tips and ideas you can use locally or further away.

I was kindly supported on my recent coast to coast challenge by Red Paddle Co - who has given me some of their fantastic kit to go adventuring.

I fell in love with the brand when I did my solo paddleboarding trip in Helsinki on the Red 12’6” Voyager touring board. I found it so incredibly stable and this was invaluable when I was paddling on the Baltic Sea. For the coast to coast, I paddled the Sport+ 14’ board which has great glide and is perfect for endurance paddling.

When I decided to do this challenge I wanted to give back by fundraising for charities who support our blue spaces. So I suggested an endurance paddle challenge to Red and several other Red ambassadors decided to join in too! We have so far raised just under £700 for Canal & River Trust ❤️

Each ambassador will also be taking on an endurance challenge over the summer, designed to push them to their limits. Follow Red for more!

I’m so proud to have raised just under £700 for Canal & River Trust for the coast to coast paddle. The link to donate is still open if you want to give some money.

On the paddle I had the chance to meet with Emma, Adam and Trish. I asked them what the Canal and River Trust does for the community and this is what they said. ❤️

In the last week alone I have taken three unplanned dips when paddleboarding! But this is why I don’t mind at all.

The first was mid week when I was teaching self rescues at my canoe club session. Before I had the chance to demonstrate one, someone bumped my board and I went into the water. Which was timely as we could then do rescues.

The second time was at the SUP masterclass with Michael Booth. It was a boiling hot day and I had already jumped in to swim several times to cool off during the session. But at the end I tried step back turns, and ended up in the water again.

The following day I paddled with friends. Turning to look at something, I missed the tree root in front of me, hit it and went flying. I didn’t mind as again I was hot.

But the important thing is it can happen at any time. So it’s vital you know how to self rescue and wear a buoyancy aid. The shock of cold water can floor you for several moments, so it’s good to practise. If you’ve never rescued yourself you won’t know how to do it.

Do you know how to get back onto a paddleboard?
