DOMS or injury? 🤔

You’ve finished training, you’re sore the next day and you’re wondering…

“Is this just DOMS, or have I actually hurt myself?”

DOMS is common after unfamiliar or harder-than-usual exercise and generally feels like widespread muscle soreness and stiffness.

But pain that is sharp, very localised, getting worse, associated with swelling/bruising, or affecting your strength or movement may need a closer look.

The important bit?

Pain isn’t always something you should just push through.

Knowing the difference can help you make better decisions about training, recovery and when to get something assessed.

When an hour’s visit turns into three… 🏍️

Today we “popped” up-to Ashdown to see who was riding & it turned out to be one of those days that reminded me why I enjoy being around the racing community.

It was so good to see so many familiar faces, crews and friends all together for a proper social day on the bikes, passengers changing around and generally having a brilliant time. ❤️

No treatments today, no taping, no rehab plans — just catching up, having a chat, sharing a few laughs and enjoying being part of such a great community.

Sometimes it’s nice to put the therapy bag down and enjoy the people behind the helmets.

Working with the body, not just chasing the pain.

Today’s session with Sam, one of Motion Forge’s Founding Clients and an experienced sidecar passenger, focused on addressing the areas that needed attention, improving tissue mobility and helping him move more comfortably.

Sidecar racing puts very different demands on the body, so treatment is about understanding the athlete, their role and what their body needs from them.
