Thirsk Sunday Swim Down

Today’s Swim Down has a calm, steady rhythm — the kind of Sunday that reminds us how much happens across the club even when the lanes themselves are quiet.

Over the last week Ben continued to show his worth at GB Next Gen Championships. Stepping into that level of racing is something only a handful of swimmers ever experience. He showed courage, commitment, and the kind of resilience that builds champions over time.

Susan and Darren were out representing TWHST at the Swim England Open Water Championships, racing in the Masters category. Their performances were strong, determined, and full of that trademark Masters spirit — proving once again that TWHST isn’t just a pool club, it’s a community of swimmers who thrive in every environment.

Adding to the sense of growth across the team, this morning we welcomed six new swimmers for try‑outs — and every single one of them earned their place. Six new teammates. Six new sparks of potential.

This week’s takeaways:

• Elite meet lessons — tough meets and galas often build the strongest athletes.

• Open water grit — Susan and Darren showed exactly what Masters resilience looks like.

• New swimmer energy — six new teammates joining strengthens the whole squad.

• Team resilience — supporting each other through every chapter is our competitive edge.
