Congratulations on your new role Danny 👏🏼

⛳ Welcome to St Austell Golf Club, Danny Gallagher!

We are delighted to officially welcome Danny Gallagher as our new Golf Course Manager.

Danny brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record across a variety of golf courses, managing different soil profiles, grass species and course environments. He has particular expertise in irrigation systems, turf health management and developing effective maintenance programmes that deliver long-term improvements.

Over the coming months, Danny will be leading the implementation of the recommendations outlined within our recent agronomist report and improvement plan, working closely with the team to improve course conditions and building a sustainable maintenance plan for the future.

We know many members have already met Danny during his first week and we are excited to have him on board as part of the next chapter for St Austell Golf Club.

Please join us in giving Danny a warm St Austell welcome! 👏

Fore Get Me Not Golf at Swaffham is back this afternoon and it’s shaping up to be our busiest yet.

Dementia-friendly golf activities (putting, games, chipping — and a few holes for those who are able), with carers/family welcome too.

SGC’s Cross Country event certainly tested the imagination this morning… and the stamina too in some seriously hot conditions! ☀️⛳️

With 11 creative and challenging holes designed by the greenkeeping team and Pro Shop staff, there were plenty of cries of “where next?!” and “has anyone seen my ball?” heard around the course.

A brilliant turnout and plenty of laughs throughout the morning, with the winning team posting an impressive 56 points.

Well played everyone and a big thank you to all involved in putting the event together 👏🏼

On Saturday members competed for the Presidents Cup Mixed Individual Stableford, with a fantastic turnout despite the soaring temperatures.

A big thank you to Club President Mike Howarth for providing the halfway house refreshments, and to Ann Howarth for baking a brilliant selection of homemade goodies including flapjacks and cookies which certainly went down well on such a hot day.

Well played to everyone who took part and managed to keep their focus in the scorching heat!
