If you want to get lean, you need to get comfortable being a little hungry šŸ‘€

This used to be the thing that held me back more than anything.

I’d absolutely nail my calories Monday to Friday.

Then the weekend would roll around…

I’d be sat at home, bored out of my mind, and suddenly my appetite would turn into a bottomless pit šŸ˜…

Before I knew it, I’d be halfway through the kitchen cupboards convincing myself:

ā€œI’ll just start again Monday.ā€

Sound familiar?

The reality is, getting lean isn’t just about managing calories.

It’s about managing hunger too.

And that’s a skill.

The problem is food is ridiculously convenient nowadays.

On my drive home alone, there’s about 3 places I could get hot food without even getting out of the car 🤣

We rarely have to experience any real hunger for more than about 20 minutes.

So when it shows up during a diet, people panic.

But hunger isn’t an emergency.

You don’t need to solve it immediately.

You certainly don’t need to empty the biscuit tin because your stomach made a funny noise šŸ˜…

The people who get lean aren’t the people who never feel hungry.

They’re the people who learn how to manage it.

Using little tricks.

Keeping busy.

Making smart food choices.

And most importantly…

Accepting that some hunger comes with the territory.

Because if you give in at the first sign of hunger every time…

You’ll spend the rest of your life restarting on Mondays.

And trust me, Monday has had enough chances already šŸ¤

It takes time… but that time is passing whether you start or not šŸ‘‡

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll only look back in a few years and wish you’d started sooner.

Not because the training is hard.

Not because the food is difficult.

But because of how much there is to learn along the way.

Nobody starts out knowing how to structure their nutrition.

Nobody starts out knowing what true training intensity feels like.

And discipline?

Trust me, that takes practice too 🤣

All the things that feel difficult at the start eventually become normal.

Tracking your food.

Hitting your step target.

Getting your sessions done.

Pushing those last horrible reps instead of stopping when it starts burning.

That’s why the people who get the best results aren’t usually the most talented.

They’re the ones who stuck around long enough for the process to become part of their life.

So stop waiting for the perfect time.

Because it doesn’t exist.

The best time was probably a year ago…

The second best time is today šŸ¤

The scales aren’t always telling the full story šŸ‘€šŸ‘‡

Don’t get me wrong…

They’re a brilliant tool for fat loss.

If your goal is to lose body fat, you’d generally expect your weight trend to come down over time.

But when the goal is to change how you LOOK…

The mirror has a vote too šŸ˜…

That’s exactly how I approached things with Jon.

Every week we looked at:

āœ… Scale weight
āœ… Progress photos
āœ… Training performance

Because focusing on just one of those can be misleading.

Imagine your weight only drops a little…

Most people panic.

ā€œWhy isn’t the scale moving?!ā€

Meanwhile their waist is smaller, their clothes fit better, and people are asking what they’ve been doing 🤣

One of the biggest things we focused on was performance in the gym.

Week after week, Jon continued getting stronger.

More reps.
More weight.
More confidence.

And that’s a huge win when you’re trying to get lean.

Because the stronger you stay, the better chance you have of holding onto muscle while losing body fat.

The result?

A completely different physique…

Despite the scales not moving nearly as much as people would expect.

Proof that fat loss and weight loss aren’t always the same thing šŸ¤

And we’re not done yet.

With more holidays on the horizon, the goal now is to maintain this condition…

Or maybe get even leaner if we fancy showing off a bit šŸ˜…

If you want results without becoming obsessed with the scales…
