West Surrey Racing

West Surrey Racing 18-time British Touring Car and five-time British F3 champions.

Founded by New Zealander Dick Bennetts in 1981, West Surrey Racing is one of Europe’s most successful racing teams, having tasted success with World Champion drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Tom Kristensen, Nigel Mansell, Allan McNish and Andy Priaulx. After becoming the most successful team in the British Formula 3 Championship during the 1980s, WSR moved into the British Touring Car

Championship and has continued its extraordinary run of success. As well as running race-winning factory BTCC programmes for Ford, Honda and MG, WSR have taken 15 outright championship titles, nine independents’ crowns and over 100 race victories. They are also race winners in the FIA World Touring Car Championship and podium finishes in A1GP. Based in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, WSR have run Team BMW since 2017 and in 2021 won the Manufacturers' Championship for a sixth-straight season while also fielding Colin Turkington to second place in the Drivers' Championship.

Day done at Thruxton and a day of hard graft on track. Lewis achieved his best result yet, just missing out on a points finish in 16th on Race 3 while Daryl was 12th and Charles Rainford battled back from being spun by a rival at the chicane on the opening lap - and a pitstop to change a rear tyre - to take 14th.

We're still well placed in the Independents' championship and we go again at Knockhill in a fortnight.

🏁 UPDATED...

RACE 1
Progress from all three cars and not even a spot of damage between them. Daryl gained three spots from his starting position to finish 12th while Charles was 16th and Lewis 21st on his series debut. Daryl and Charles will have increased boost for Race 2 so let's see what they can do.

RACE 2
More of the same with Daryl 13th and Charles 14th. With all cars around us on similar boost, the chance of making progress was limited from the word go. Lewis again gained track experience on his way to 21st spot.
