Strabane defeated a very game Larne side 24-3, after being held scoreless in the 1st half. After a rocket from coach Neville Magee during the break, the Strabanimals responded with tries by Vergil Gootbroom, Hayden Scott and James Perry. CJ Groblar converted all of them, and added a penalty for good measure, to claim 4 points and keep us at the top of Championship 2. Gerard Doherty won man of the match with his best performance of the season so far. He made the invaluable hard yards and was prominent in the loose. He was pressed hard by young back row Rhys Brown, who destroyed Larne's lineout, was a complete menace at their rucks and topped it all by putting Hayden in for his score in the corner. Larne must be credited for a gallant effort, and they made the home team work as hard as any other opponent this season. They also covered themselves in glory, or was that b**r, in the clubhouse apres match shenanigans, and their songs were all warmly applauded.
