ROVERS WOES CONTINUE

Eynesbury’s defensive frailties were to the fore again as they conceded four goals at home to Coventry Sphinx as Dylan Parker netted a hat-trick for the visitors. However, their cause was not helped by losing defender Riley Barratt through injury after just ten minutes, Dean Dummett came on in his place. Further wow befell the team as Jordan Nicholson had to go off just before the break with Martin Hill replacing him.
With Reece King suspended and Michael King unavailable Oskar Ciach was given his first start of the season whilst new signing Freddie Findlay made his debut. Another new recruit, Dominic Paul, made his debut as a 78th minute replacement for Ciach.
Rovers made an ideal start taking the lead in the fourth minute. A lovely piece of skill by Babacar Camara beat his marker on the halfway line before he sent Jordan Brown clear on goal. He progressed into the penalty area before beating the keeper.
Jordan Nicholson had two chances to score but his low shot was saved by Gabriel Bajrami and he was also denied by the keeper later as he ran into the penalty area with the ball but was dispossessed by the shot stopper. Oskar Ciach won the ball in midfield and found Luke Young with his pass but he shot wide of the target.
Coventry’s equaliser came in the 39th minute from a swift counter attack finished off by Dylan Parker. However, a minute later Eynesbury came close to regaining the lead when Camara fed the ball through to Brown, he played the ball off to Young but his shot was saved by Bajrami.
The sides went into the break level and at this stage the match was even. However, two goals in four minutes swung the game in Coventry’s favour. A strong run down the left flank by Success Nidjebu led to Parker scoring his second goal just before the hour mark. Just three minutes later the striker completed his hat-trick as he touch home a pass from Lewis Rankin.
The referee then saw fit to issue four yellow cards in a seven minute spell, three for Rovers and one for Sphinx as Eynesbury struggled to get back into the game.
The visitors secured the points when Aaron Dickens made it 4-1 ten minutes from time with another close range goal.
Next up for Rovers is an FA Vase Second Qualifying Round tie at Netherton United on Saturday 12th September, kick off 3.00pm.
