Following 2 grading sessions at Applemore, it was decided that student Hazel Toman was deserving and was awarded her Junior first dan black belt. Congratulations to Hazel who showed great technical competence throughout the grading and a great fighting spirit in sparring. Hazel is seen in the photo with other club members.

Thursday grading at Applemore. 6 grade to Yellow/white. Isabel, Oliver, Raffy, Seb, Jack and Miles. Isobel grades to full Red belt. The dojo hall was filled with young energy. But with good discipline, they demonstrated what they had learned. The photo shows the young graders with sensei Ben and sensei Justin. Well done to all.

Tuesday sessions 5 till 6: Final class 16th Dec, back 6th Jan
Wednesday sessions, 5.30 till 6.30: Final class 17th Dec back 7th Jan.
Thursday sessions 5 till 7: Final class 18th Dec, back 8th Jan
Saturday sessions 11 till 12 noon: All on as normal.
Sunday sessions, 11.30 till 12.30: All on as normal.

If your usual session is not available or you cannot attend, come along to one of the other sessions.

Saturday morning grading at Room 13. Congratulations to Dom Sendall who graded to Brown belt first kyu. Over several Saturdays Dom performed well in his kata and showed good technical understanding of the kata's applications. In addition Dom should strong fighting spirit in his kumite. Dom can be seen in the photograph with sensei Justin, sensei Martin, sensei Ali and other members of the Waterside club.

Over the last few months, six students have stepped up their training in order to qualify for their next belt. Three 1st Dan Black belts, Joseph Wallington, Charlie Williams, and Adam Bocock graded to Second dan black belt. One 1st Kyu Brown belt, Mark Williams graded to First dan black belt. And finally two 3rd Kyu Brown belts, Kelly and Ben Field graded to 2nd Kyu Brown belt. Gradings were collectively concluded at Applemore this week.
Congratulations to all six who have successfully achieved their new belts.
In addition, to free fighting, the grading was mainly focused on technical aspects of karate. Specifically kata and the application of techniques from kata.
All six students can be seen in the photo with sensei Ben and sensei Justin. As always the up hill struggle continues.

There is a Christmas Fayre in the Applemore sports hall Sunday 8th December. So the Karate session will be held in Studio 1. Entry through carpark double doors.

Completion of 3rd dan black belt and sensei grading of Luke Bentley. This following several weeks of grading, which included, leading a class and demonstrating a range of applications to a number of sensei. Very well done Luke for all the hard work leading up to this grading where proficient understanding of kata with application was exhibited. Luke, who is one of the more formidable club fighters, can be seen in the photo with sensei Justin, sensei Martin, sensei Ben, sensei Ali and other black belts of the Waterside club.

Saturday mornings at Room 13. Over several weekends, four students undertook their gradings. Congratulations to Dom Sendall and Aksel Wood grading to 2nd kyu Brown two stripe belt, Isaac Williams grading to 1st kyu Brown belt and Kain Nicholson grading to shodan ho junior Black belt. The four performed syllabus kata and with the assistance of the club's second dans, students demonstrated their understanding of kata applications. All four can be seen in the photograph with sensei Justin, sensei Martin, sensei Ali and other members of the Waterside club.

Sunday grading at Applemore leisure Centre by sensei Justin and sensei Ben. Cassie Lewis graded to First dan Black Belt, Hazel Toman and David Field graded to Brown belt (First Kyu) and Amber Nelson graded to Brown two stripe belt (2nd Kyu). Very well done to these four students who passed convincingly, all having worked hard for many months to achieved their new grades. All demonstrated good technical ability and understanding in their applications and kata. In addition all four displayed strong fighting spirt in their Kumite.
