🏉 Saints Club of the Match Experience 🏉

Today, as part of Rushden & Higham RFC’s Club of the Match experience at the Loughborough Lightning vs Saracens fixture, a number of our Mini and Junior players were lucky enough to attend the Northampton Saints High Performance Centre.

The players enjoyed a fantastic training session delivered by the Northampton Saints Community Coaches before taking part in an on-pitch Q&A with Loughborough Lightning and Red Roses star Daisy Hibberd-Jones.

The excitement didn’t stop there, as our players then had the opportunity to become the Guard of Honour as the teams entered the pitch before kick-off, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Whilst the result didn’t go the way of Loughborough Lightning this time, our players had a brilliant day and were able to experience top-level rugby up close, creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.

The club would also like to extend its sincere thanks to Loughborough Lightning for presenting Rushden & Higham RFC with a signed team shirt. This generous gift will take pride of place at the club and serves as a wonderful reminder of a fantastic day.

A huge thank you to Northampton Saints, Loughborough Lightning, Daisy Hibberd-Jones and all the staff involved in making the day such a special experience for our young players.

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of former 2nd XV captain, Nick Dawson.

Nick was a huge part of the club both on and off the pitch. As captain of the 2nd XV, he led with commitment, passion, and a great sense of camaraderie that earned the respect and friendship of teammates, opponents, and supporters alike.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Nick’s family, friends, and all who knew him at this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Nick. You will be greatly missed.

Choosing Rushden & Higham Rugby Club for your rugby journey means joining more than just a club — it means becoming part of a long-standing rugby community built on inclusivity, development, and genuine club culture.

Here’s what makes the club stand out:

* Rugby for every age and ability
The club offers pathways from minis and juniors through to colts, senior rugby, women’s and girls’ rugby, and social membership. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or an experienced player, there’s a place for you.
* Strong community and family atmosphere
Rushden & Higham repeatedly describe themselves as a “family-based club,” with a welcoming environment both on and off the pitch. The clubhouse and social side are a major part of the experience, helping players and families build friendships beyond matchdays.
* Inclusive culture and values
The club has a clear commitment to fairness, respect, and accessibility for everyone regardless of age, gender, background, or ability. Their code of conduct strongly promotes enjoyment, safety, teamwork, and personal growth.
* Focus on player development, not just winning
Coaches and administrators emphasise fun, skill development, confidence, and long-term participation. Young players are encouraged to enjoy rugby in a supportive environment rather than a “win at all costs” culture.
* Deep rugby roots in Northamptonshire
The club sits within one of England’s strongest grassroots rugby regions. Northamptonshire has a rich rugby culture where local clubs remain central to community life and player development.
* Opportunities beyond playing
From volunteering and coaching to social events and community involvement, the club offers ways to contribute and grow beyond the game itself.
* A club with history and ambition
Established decades ago, the club has a proud tradition while continuing to invest in facilities, membership growth, and future development.

For many players, the best rugby clubs are the ones where you improve as a player, feel welcomed as a person, and stay connected long after the final whistle — and Rushden & Higham aims to deliver all three.
