❤️🥳😃 23 Years of Keep Fit with Michelle 😃🥳❤️

I’ve been running my fitness classes for 23 years now, and it’s been quite a journey! So many classes, so many lovely people and some amazing memories along the way.

I thought I’d share a little video about what those 23 years have meant to me🥰💪

🤔 Did You Know? 🤔

Did you know just how much goes into your classes behind the scenes?

☕ Fresh filtered coffee is ready before my Saturday morning kettlebell class.

🫖 Tea, coffee and biscuits are waiting for you after my Over 50s class — because the social side matters too.

🎶 Every playlist is meticulously planned to suit the workout. And if it doesn’t feel right? I scrap it and start again!

✨ I spend hours every week setting up the hall with lighting and décor, doing everything I can to make it feel warm, welcoming and somewhere you genuinely enjoy being.

💪 Every single workout is carefully planned to give you the right balance of exercise for that particular class — there’s always a reason behind what we do.

❤️ If a regular class member is missing, I’ll check in to make sure they’re okay.

🏠 Before you arrive, I make sure the hall is ready and everything is just as it should be.

🚪 I open the doors early so you can grab your favourite spot, settle in and have plenty of time to chat before we start.

📅 I try to take as little time off as possible because I know how important your regular classes and routines are to you.

And above all…

I genuinely care that you benefit from every class — and that you enjoy being there.

I do all of this because this is so much more than simply turning up and teaching an exercise class.

I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel welcome, comfortable and part of something. A place where you can move, laugh, socialise, challenge yourself and leave feeling better than when you walked through the door.

Your fitness matters to me.
Your health matters to me.
And how you feel when you come to my classes matters to me.

That’s why I put so much into them. ❤️

🍂🧡 Are you ready for a new season? 🧡🍂

There’s something about September that feels like a gentle turning point.

The days begin to change, a new season starts to appear around us, and as we move towards the final few months of the year, it can be a lovely time to stop, reflect and ask ourselves…

How do I want to feel as I move towards the end of the year?

Stronger?
Healthier?
More energised?
More confident?
More comfortable in myself?
More like me again?

Whatever your answer is, remember that you don’t have to change everything at once.

Health and fitness isn’t about overhauling where you are today. It’s about taking small, positive steps towards feeling a little better tomorrow.

A walk when you can.
A workout that makes you feel good.
Nourishing your body.
Getting a little more rest.
Making time for yourself.

So as we step into September and slowly welcome a new season, maybe we don’t need unrealistic goals.

Maybe we simply make ourselves one promise…

To keep taking the next step.

However small it might be.

Because those little steps add up — and you might just reach the end of this year feeling stronger, healthier and prouder of yourself than you ever imagined 🍂💪

Here’s to embracing the season ahead.
And most importantly, here’s to feeling good in ourselves as we move forward 🧡

💪🏻 Ladies over 40 – strength training matters more than you might think 💪🏻

As we move through our 40s, 50s and beyond, keeping our muscles strong becomes increasingly important — not just for how we look, but for our bone health, balance, mobility and ability to stay active and independent as we get older.

And strength training doesn’t mean lifting huge weights or training like a bodybuilder! It’s simply about challenging your muscles safely and progressively in a way that’s right for you.

I’ve written a new blog explaining why strength training is so valuable for women over 40, particularly through perimenopause, menopause and beyond — and why it’s never too late to start ❤️

If you’ve been wondering whether strength training is really for you, have a read here 👇

Strong isn’t just about lifting weights — it’s about keeping your body capable of doing the things you love for years to come 💪

🌟 The Hip Hinge 🌟
Are you hip hinging correctly? 👀

The hip hinge is one of those movements that looks simple, but getting the technique right can make a big difference when performing exercises with dumbbells, weighted bars and kettlebells.

Here’s a quick guide 👇

✅ Stand tall with your feet around hip-width apart and keep a soft bend in your knees.

✅ Brace your core and keep your spine in a strong, neutral position.

✅ Push your hips backwards as though you’re trying to tap a wall behind you with your glutes.

✅ As your hips move back, allow your torso to naturally lean forward while keeping your shins mostly vertical.

✅ Stop when you feel a good stretch through your hamstrings — there’s no need to force yourself lower.

✅ Squeeze your glutes and drive your hips forward to return to standing.

A few common mistakes to watch out for:
❌ Turning the movement into a squat
❌ Rounding your lower back
❌ Rounding your shoulders
❌ Trying to go lower than your mobility allows

Remember, the goal isn’t how low you can go — it’s learning to move well and control the movement from your hips. 💪

It’s an exercise we perform in class all the time. If you feel unsure on your technique, I’m always happy to help you any time 🧡
