A few course views from our greenkeeping team this week 🌿⛳️

The hard work behind the scenes continues, and the course is looking absolutely amazing.

A huge thank you to our greenkeepers for the dedication, care and attention that goes into keeping Cleveland Golf Club in such great condition 👏

Our 6th is a par 3 that demands total commitment from the tee.

Miss short or drift slightly offline and the bunkers waiting around the green are ready to gather up anything less than your best strike 👀

And even if you do find the putting surface, the subtly shaped green offers no guarantees. With run-offs on all sides, distance control and precision are absolutely key.

Like many great links par 3s, it looks straightforward on the card… until you’re standing on the tee.

One of our course designers, Old Tom Morris, was famous for introducing unconventional features into golf course architecture ⛳️

Blind tee shots, crossing holes, and shared greens were all part of his early philosophy — creating courses that felt natural, strategic, and full of character rather than overly manufactured.

Whilst none of our holes share a green, you can still see Old Tom’s influence throughout our course in the way the layout flows with the natural links landscape and asks thoughtful questions of golfers throughout the round.

The ‘New’ Holes at Cleveland have become some of the most talked about and memorable on the course ⛳️

In 2000, renowned golf course architect Donald Steel redesigned holes 14, 15, and 16 following changes to the club’s original layout. After land near the clubhouse was earmarked for a housing development that ultimately never went ahead, the opportunity arose to reshape part of the course.

Using land furthest from the clubhouse, Steel created three holes that blend seamlessly into the natural links landscape while adding a fresh strategic challenge to the round.

Today, these holes are a huge part of Cleveland’s identity — combining classic links golf, natural beauty, and thoughtful course architecture.

It was a great day for Cleveland Golf Club's juniors at the Yorkshire Boys Championship held at Rotherham Golf Club last Thursday. 👏⛳

Congratulations to Lewi O'Rourke on an excellent 9th-place finish in a strong field of Yorkshire's top young golfers.

An extra special well done goes to Ollie Scott, a member of both Cleveland and Middlesbrough Golf Club, who claimed the championship title with a superb two-round total of 1-under par. 🏆

Fantastic performances from both players and a brilliant reflection of the strength of junior golf at the club.

Well done, Lewi and Ollie! 👏

Our refurbished bunkers are settling in beautifully ⛳️👏

A huge amount of work went in over the winter from our greenkeeping team, and it’s fantastic to see the results now blending perfectly into the course.

The improvements have not only enhanced the look of the course, but also the quality and consistency of play throughout the round.
