The parkrun weather fairies were not able to hold back the drizzle and showers this morning. ☔️

But judging by the clapping, cheering and smiles at the finish line that didn’t matter too much to most. 😁

As always, this week's event was only made possible thanks to our 24 wonderful volunteers. While everyone else was busy collecting steps, they were busy making sure the event happened at all.

As its is , they deserve all the applause (and possibly a biscuit).

If you’ve never given volunteering a go before, this is your gentle nudge. It turns out standing around in a hi-vis comes with its own set of benefits for body and mind, plus far fewer discussions about pacing strategies.

So if you fancy swapping your trainers for a clipboard next Saturday, drop us a line at [email protected] and come join the fun from the other side of the funnel.

This week's event brought 330 runners, joggers and walkers to Reading, proving once again that spending a Saturday morning running around a park with complete strangers is a perfectly reasonable life choice.

A huge welcome to the 17 people who completed their very first ever parkrun with us. You've now joined a community where getting up early to run 5k somehow becomes normal behaviour.

🔴 Tom, John, Dileep, & Tim - 50 parkruns
⚫️ Harriet - 100 parkruns
🟢 David - 250 parkruns

Not only did David complete his 250th parkrun, he also managed to pick up his 25th volunteer credit by carrying out Course Close Down. That's some impressive milestone multitasking right there.

Congratulations to everyone who achieved a milestone, earned a PB, volunteered, spectated, supported, or simply turned up and got round the course.

Now then, who's joining us next week? We'll be back with another 5k, more milestones, more PBs, more volunteers, and at least one person insisting they weren't trying for a PB right before achieving one. See you Saturday! 😊

It was fantastic to see so many people recovering in the shade after their walk or run applauding participants coming up to the finish. The encouragement and support on display created a great atmosphere and was parkrun at its very best.

We often (righty) say "parkrun is a run, not a race". While many of us enjoy challenging ourselves and chasing personal goals, it's important to remember that parkrun is for everyone.

Please be considerate of fellow participants, respect others' space, and help ensure that everyone has a safe, enjoyable and welcoming experience.

This weekend, Darren Wood will become the first person ever to join the 1,000 walk/run milestone club 💛

That’s 5,000k covered over 22 years, a milestone that would still take around 19 years to achieve even with perfect attendance every Saturday 🤯

Midweek means one thing… time to celebrate our volunteers 🙌

We couldn’t do it without the people who choose to make it happen. It was great to see Kara help us out for the first time, as well as Helen giving timekeeping a go for the first time - and nailing it! It was also Carol's 50th volunteering occasion this week, and she is an unassuming, but a trustworthy regular.
