TGU with the gym dog today. 🐾
Keeping me company every step of the way. Although judging by the effort level, one of us was working harder than the other!
The Turkish Get Up (TGU) remains a constant in my training programme. It’s one of those exercises that gives so much back when practised consistently.
Why do I keep it in my programme?

✅ Improves shoulder stability and resilience
✅ Develops mobility through multiple positions
✅ Enhances coordination and body awareness
✅ Challenges balance and control
✅ Strengthens the core in a functional way
✅ Encourages smooth, efficient movement patterns
✅ Teaches tension and relaxation at the right times
✅ Promotes longevity and movement confidence
✅ It’s a fantastic diagnostic tool, weaknesses tend to reveal themselves quickly
The goal isn’t to rush through reps. It’s to own every position, move with intention and make each repetition look the same.
Plus, every now and then, you get a furry training partner supervising the session. 🐶
