🚗 Community Feedback Needed - Consultation IF251 🚗
Many of you know how much Heol Chwarae Rôl - Role Play Lane means to our community.
We have recently been made aware of a consultation regarding proposed waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) on Llantrisant Road, Llantwit Fardre. Whilst we fully support the need for road safety, we are concerned about the potential impact these proposals may have on parking availability for families, volunteers, staff, residents and service users accessing our centre.
For transparency, we support any measures that genuinely improve road safety. We are simply seeking to understand and evidence the potential impact these proposals may have on local residents, businesses, families and community services before any decisions are made.
Over the past 8 years, Role Play Lane has welcomed more than 47,000 visits and bookings, supports almost 300 families with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), employs 13 staff members, provides volunteering, work experience and life skills opportunities, and delivers a wide range of community activities and publicly funded projects, including Warm Hub provision and UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) programmes.
Many of our staff, volunteers and beneficiaries are neurodivergent or have Additional Learning Needs themselves, and Role Play Lane provides valuable opportunities to build confidence, develop independence and gain lifelong skills within a supportive environment.
Our concern is that removing a substantial amount of roadside parking will not remove the demand for parking. Instead, it may force more vehicles into the already limited shared car park used by both Medway Court residents and Role Play Lane users, making it harder for families, staff, volunteers and visitors to access the services they rely upon.
We are gathering feedback from the families, volunteers, staff, residents and community members who use our services so that we can better understand the potential impact and ensure your voices are heard as part of the consultation process.
📝 If you have attended Role Play Lane, volunteered with us, completed work experience, attended Life Skills sessions, accessed ALN support, or used any of our community services, we would be extremely grateful if you could complete our short feedback form below.
⏰ Please complete the form by Sunday 21st June 2026 if possible. The official RCTCBC consultation closes on 24th June 2026, and we want to ensure community feedback can be reviewed and included within our response.
