Well done to those fencing this weekend at the Elite Epee at Moulton College and the BRC 'A' Junior Event in Rickmansworth.

At Moulton on Saturday Frankie Fowler had a decent day, making the last 8 and almost completing an amazing comeback, after being about 6 hits behind to lose out 12-11 to finish 7th.

In the Cadet Boy's event, Thomas Hunt finished 5th, with Sam Rossiter 6th and Adam K 10th, with Layla fencing well in the Cadet Girls to finish 5th. In a strong Under 12 Boys event Chris Domek finished 9th, with his brother Alex winning a DE match against the 9th seed to make the last 16, which he lead into the 3rd period, but could not close out to the eventual silver medallist, to finish 16th.

On Saturday in Rickmansworth Robin Silk started well in the BRC Junior Event, taking 4th seed after the poules and won his first 2 matches to make the last 12, but lost to Sameer and Lucas (both 15-13) to finish 9th.

On Sunday at Rickmansworth, Izzy fought in the Junior Women's Event taking 8th seed into the DE, having a bye through the last 64 and 2 wins she made the top 12, but was unable to proceed further losing to the No 1 seed after the poules, and then losing out 15-14 in the repechage to finish 11th.

In The Men's Open at Moulton, well done to Eric Lauga in taking Bronze, and credit to Joseph Wells who came at the bottom of the results list, but scored hits in every match he fenced and was very close to winning one bout.

Just a reminder that we have no club tonight due to the bank holiday.

Enjoy your relaxing evening.

Last week we had a number of the fencers from the Summer Performance camp attending, which made it an even more diverse group than usual. Great fun.

A really good day for OPS Men at the Norfolk Open with three club linked fencers into the last 8 and Eric going on to take Silver.

After 2 rounds of poules Eric lead the way for club linked fencers in 4th, with Robin, Caleb, George P, Andy L and Tim B close behind in 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th. With Ben in 16th, Jean-Luc 18th and Oliver 19th all in the top half of the seedings for the DE. Others were Steve D 27th, Gaz 30th, Nigel 34th, Robbo 45th.

With the top 15 getting byes into the last 32, Ben won by an impressive 15-1 score-line, with Robbo beating the seeding to take out the 20th seed 15-12, with Oli winning 15-6, Jean-Luc 15-7 and Stephen D 15-5. Nigel was our only last 64 victim, losing to Gaz.

It was a great showing with 12 into the DEs, Ben lost of 15-14 in the closest of matches, Andy from 9th seed had a nasty draw with the dangerous Leon Kill and after a cagey match lost out 8-6, George won 15-12 and Robin 15-4, with Robbo after his great last 64 fight, losing out to Megan Upton who was in the men's/mixed event. Eric and Olli had 15-10 victories, but Steve lost out 15-9. Caleb and Tim went through 15-12 and 15-7, but Jean-Luc lost 15-13, with Gaz being knocked out by 2nd seed and eventual winner Antoine Belot.

In the 16 George P was taken out by Leon Kill, and Oli went out to Darren Milne. Robin, Eric went through and Caleb beat Tim B. With 3 club fencers still into the last 8, Eric defeated Robin 15-13, but Caleb was another victim of Antoine's Epee to go out.

Eric won his Semi final 15-13, before losing to Antoine in the Final to go home with silver.

Well done to everyone

Some amazing performances in the Women's event at the Norfolk Open with Olga leaving with a medal.

In the Women's event Olga led the way for OPS fencers in the poules with 8 wins from 10 fights to go into the DEs seeded 3rd, with Fiona 5th, Carol 7th, Grace 10th and Karen 12th. Karen did amazingly well at her first competition and had a 5-4 loss in one match in the 2nd round of poules.

In the Last 16 DEs Karen lost to Fiona, Carol beat Grace in a tight match. In the last 8 Olga was very strong winning 15-1, but Fiona and Carol were unable to progress. In the semi-final Olga was again strong but was unable to overcome the strong and experienced Marge Oniye, who is 34 places higher than Olga on the senior GBR rankings..

Final placings -
3rd - Olga C
5th - Fiona T
7th - Carol A
10th - Grace G
