4 days ago I posted this picture on my private Instagram page.
Looking at it you see calm, sunshine and someone who looks relaxed.
But the truth?
I was exhausted.
My body was aching, my nervous system felt full, I was running on empty and had nothing to give.
And that made me reflectā¦
How often do we look at someone and assume theyāre fine because they look well?
As a somatic therapist and movement facilitator, I speak often about listening to the body ā And thatās exactly what I did.
I cancelled plans.
I left early.
I rested.
I moved gently.
I drank more water.
I said no.
I allowed myself quiet.
And I was reminded how important it is to surround yourself with the right people.
After the retreats I spent time with friends who didnāt make me feel guilty for needing rest, didnāt push me to keep going, and didnāt expect me to be involved in everything.
They simply respected my needs and gave me space to listen to my body.
What a gift that is.
Friendship at its best.
The retreats were wonderful and deeply meaningful⦠but restoration afterwards matters too.
Our bodies whisper long before they shout.
This week I chose to listen.
So much love
