β½οΈπ TOURNAMENT ROUND UP πβ½οΈ
Where do I start?
This weekend marked our first outing as a complete football school/club, and I honestly couldnβt be prouder. π
To all the players, parents, and coaches who represented us across both days, and to those who travelled down to Oxfordshire, thank you. π
I truly appreciate the time, effort, and expense that went into the weekend whether that was fuel, hotels, or simply giving up your time to support the players. It means a lot to me, and Iβm sure the players appreciate it too. π
As a club, the majority of our teams competed at a high level. Playing against unknown opposition is never easy, but itβs a fantastic opportunity for player development. It allows players to step outside their comfort zones, adapt to different situations, and test themselves against new challenges. πͺβ½οΈ
π΅ Saturday β Newark Town
Unfortunately, the boys lost on penalties in the semi-final. π
Up to that point, they put in a fantastic display, playing some excellent football with great link-up play and some brilliant team goals. Plenty to be proud of. πβ½οΈ
π΅ Saturday β Oxfordshire
β½οΈ 6 games played
We dominated every match and created chance after chance. Unfortunately, we lost one game 1-0 and drew the remaining games 0-0.
Tournament football can be cruel, you have to take your chances when they come. Despite the results, the effort, attitude, and quality of play were outstanding. ππ₯
π΅ Sunday β Oxfordshire (AM) β U12s
We entered two U12 teams, with myself and Goose managing a team each.
We were both absolutely delighted with everyoneβs performances. The attitude, desire, and commitment shown throughout the morning were brilliant to see. π
π
One team reached the semi-final and narrowly lost on penalties.
π
The other team just missed out on qualification from the group. Goal difference was identical, head-to-head was a draw, and the deciding factor was that the other team had scored just one more goal than us. Unbelievably unlucky. π©
π΅ Sunday β Oxfordshire (PM) β U10s
A tough day against some very strong opposition.
However, there were periods where we looked excellent and even managed a draw against the eventual tournament winners. π
The day highlighted areas we can continue to improve, which is always a positive as we keep developing. πβ½οΈ
π΅ Sunday β Newark Town (Girls)
What a performance from the girls! ππ
π
Topped their group
π
Won a penalty shootout in the semi-final
π
Reached the final
π
Took the final to penalties
Unfortunately, we finished as runners-up, but what an incredible effort from everyone involved.
Well done, girls! πͺβ½οΈ
