π² Creating a more inclusive cycling community in Milton Keynes
Did you know that three times more men than women cycle? Cycling Citizens MK is working to change that by making cycling a fair, welcoming and accessible choice for everyone.
New for 2026, womenβs-only beginner rides have been introduced for those taking part in the womenβs cycling training sessions delivered by Milton Keynes City Council.
These follow-up rides are designed to help riders build confidence and put their new skills into practice in a supportive, relaxed environment. At the very first ride this week, 12 women took part β with 11 experiencing their first ever Redway ride.
A big thank you to Two Mile Ash School for providing loan bikes and facilities, which made it possible to enjoy a beautiful spring evening cycling around Lodge Lake.
Everyone did brilliantly. Skills were put into practice, confidence was built, and most importantly β everyone had fun. The smiles at the end said it all π
Special thanks to CCMK Co-Chair Ann Shrimpton and MK Councillor Marie Bradburn for leading the ride and supporting participants throughout.
These training sessions and follow-up rides will continue throughout the summer.
