Climbing, abseiling, pub lunch, followed by a guided trip along the River Derwent.

What a great way to re-connect with old friends and bring together friendship groups ahead of the big day.

Faith groups, youth charities, scouts, school residentials, community events, supporting our accommodation partners and some private holiday bookings.

A big shift up through the gears as we buckle in for the summer season.

Adventure for All

An organisation’s most valuable asset is its people.

As an organisation - we appreciate that visiting schools recognise the experience, flexibility and adaptability of our staff team.
Not simply for their technical skills but foremost their ability to work supportively with people from all backgrounds.

We would like to express our thanks to Mount Cook Adventure Centre adventure for the loan of their all terrain wheelchair and to .barn.beeley for the gated access needed to offer total inclusivity on one of our programmes this week.

ADVENTURE FOR ALL !

What a fantastic week we’ve had …
Our groups finally enjoying some fine weather conditions 🌞

This week we’ve worked with Specialist Autism schools, independent schools, state schools, alternative educational provision, hen groups and even a bunch of Eastern European models / influencers!

The influencers just happened to be modelling Lycra according to the staff ???
Working with Lyrca groups underpins our commitment to inclusion and our philosophy of ‘adventure for all’

Lesson: Respect the power !!

We were out exploring some of the larger cave systems in the Yorkshire Dales this week with our ‘Alternative Education Team’

Even after the rain has stopped certain sections of cave can remain out of bounds for days.

Narrowing passage ways or steepening passages, crawls in low stream-ways and any kind of vertical route are all big red flags in higher water conditions 🚩

The increased noise can make communication impossible and the draft created by fast flowing water can quickly lead to cold cavers 🥶

All of these things are better taught than learned.
