Over the last few weeks we have been engaged with the Army Welfare Service supporting children and young people from military families on residential courses here in the Peak District.

The Army Welfare Service still operates a fully functional Youth Service.
This was great foresight by the MOD to continue operating their service while Youth Services at County and LEA levels were systematically demolished by successive governments since 2010.

The young people were representative of the very mixed heritages serving in the UK armed forces; Nepalese, Fijian Jamaican, South Africa, Ghana and other commonwealth countries.
What a great vibe !!
All are now all safely back with their parents.

A fab 3 days bringing a little lightness into the lives of some young people who have left the trauma of Sudan, Gaza and Syria.

‘Adventure Training’ is the military lingo for what we do.

This week some staff have been working away in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District helping military cadets develop their leadership, teamwork and resilience in challenging and unfamiliar environments.

A great opportunity for our staff to use their skill sets to challenge and stretch the cadets and their leaders.

Congratulations to Andy Cornfield on successfully passing the ‘Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor’ assessment this week.
No simple task!!

Passing the MCI is widely recognised as a significant professional achievement.

The 5 day assessment itself is only one part of a much longer journey, built on years of experience, continual learning, reflection, and professional development.

This qualification represents the culmination of a rigorous and demanding process, requiring the development and demonstration of advanced technical competence, sound judgment, effective leadership, and the ability to manage risk in a wide range of mountain and climbing environments.

Acclimbatize staff, instructors and colleagues wish Andy every success in applying his trade safely - just as soon as the celebratory beers have worn off
