We’re incredibly proud to see Alex Rigby recognised with a British Empire Medal in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.
Through Running the Railways, Alex has raised more than £80,000 for Centre 56, supporting families affected by domestic abuse across our region.
It’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. From running to every station on the Northern Line to covering more than 100 miles across our network, Alex’s determination has made a real difference to families who need it most.
And it’s not over yet… Running the Railways returns later this month with an even bigger challenge.
Starting at 5pm on Friday 26 June, Alex and the team will run a 5k every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours – finishing at 5pm on Saturday.
They’ll cover around 120km between Freshfield and Hightown, aiming to raise at least £1,000 for every hour they run. Our colleagues will be there too, giving their time to support this important cause.
