🥊 Parents, please check before choosing a boxing club for your child

Not every boxing club is run to the same standard, so don’t be afraid to ask questions before your child starts training.

Check that the club is properly affiliated, the coaches are qualified, DBS checks are current, safeguarding and First Aid training are in date, and there is a Club Welfare Officer in place.

Also look at how the children are treated. Sparring should be properly supervised, children should never be pressured into anything they are not ready for, and there should be clear procedures around safety, medicals and competitions.

Don’t assume everything is in place just because a club has been around a long time, has successful boxers or looks professional.

Go along, watch a session and ask to see what qualifications and safeguarding arrangements are in place.

A good club will have no problem answering those questions.

When it comes to children in boxing, safety and welfare should always come before trophies, titles or reputation. 🥊

🥊 IMPORTANT – ANNUAL AFFILIATION FEES 🥊

Please can everyone make sure their annual affiliation is paid during the first week of September.

This applies to everyone who regularly trains at Mile Oak Boxing Academy, as this is separate from your normal training/session fees.

The yearly affiliation helps towards the costs we have to pay throughout the season to keep the club running properly, including our England Boxing affiliation, insurance, licences, registrations and the other requirements we have to meet as an affiliated boxing club.

We have a lot of costs throughout the year that people don’t always see, so getting the annual affiliation payments in at the beginning of September really helps us keep everything organised and covered for the new season.

🥊 RINGSIDE BOX CUP 2027 – SPONSORS & DONATIONS NEEDED 🥊

Following everything that happened surrounding this year’s Box Cup, Mile Oak Boxing Academy made the decision to part company with Hailsham Boxing Club and move forward independently.

Unfortunately, this means we now have to start again with all of our promotional material for next year.

Our pull-up banners, event banners, posters, signage and other materials all need to be redesigned and replaced for the 2027 Ringside Box Cup, which comes at a considerable cost.

We are therefore asking whether any businesses, companies or individuals would be willing to sponsor us or make a donation towards replacing everything.

This year’s Box Cup welcomed nearly 200 boxers from across England, Scotland and Wales, with three rings running across the weekend. Despite the difficulties we faced beforehand, we put on an event that we were extremely proud of.

2027 is a fresh start for the Ringside Box Cup, and we intend to come back bigger and better.
