The ‘Shades of Midnight’ Horse of the Year Award is back, and it’s your chance to make sure your favourite horse gets the recognition it deserves.
We’re calling on racegoers to nominate the horse that gave you the most memorable performance at Kelso during the 2025/2026 season (September–May). It doesn’t have to be a winning performance, just one that stood out, where the horse showed either heart, consistency or both.
Nominations are open now and close at midnight on Monday 31st August.
To put a horse forward, simply email us at [email protected] with the horse’s name and the reason you believe they deserve this award.
The winning horse’s connections will receive the stunning bronze trophy, kindly donated by The Potassium Partnership in memory of their remarkable ‘Shady’, a seven-time winner, including three victories at Kelso.
And in recognition of the hard work behind the scenes, the dedicated stable person who cares for the winning horse will receive £200.
