Hartlepool St Francis U13 Blues 6-1 Wearside FC Navy 🔵⚽️
A winning start! 💙
The lads got all three points in their first game of the season, despite stepping up two leagues following last season’s league title and cup double. A fantastic way to get the new campaign up and running!
The opposition started brightly and caught us on the break after we had created a number of chances without being able to find the finish. A dangerous break down the right saw the ball squared across goal, but Joe stood tall and produced a crucial one-on-one save, forcing the effort wide of the post.
We then produced a brilliant team goal. John launched a throw deep inside our own half into Amir, who fed it back to John. He played inside first time to Oscar, who found Amir again. Jack recognised the space from Amir’s position and made the run, with Amir threading an excellent through ball into his path. Jack rounded the advancing keeper and, from a difficult angle, found the side netting. ⚽️
Amir then doubled the advantage with a fantastic strike into the roof of the net. ⚽️
Another excellent team goal followed, with Max, Chalky and Harry linking up beautifully with some tidy one-twos. Chalky spotted the gap, made the run and was found by Harry before calmly slotting past the keeper. ⚽️

The second half continued in much the same fashion.
A low corner wasn’t dealt with properly by the opposition and Jowsey, arriving on the edge of the box, made no mistake with the finish. ⚽️
Another excellent passage of football saw us move the ball quickly through the thirds. Oscar and John won possession at the back before finding Harry, who carried into space and played forward to Jack.W. Jack moved the ball wide, spotted Max’s run and delivered an excellent ball into the box. Chalky was ready to finish, but a defender got in front and could only turn it into his own net. ⚽️
We were then awarded a penalty after Harry used his body brilliantly and was shoved from behind. Oscar stepped up and confidently fired high to the keeper’s right to make it six. ⚽️
Right at the death, Wearside won a corner which was headed behind for another. That eventually led to an unfortunate deflection inside the box with Joe planted, giving the visitors a consolation goal.
Credit to Wearside, who battled right until the final whistle and were rewarded for their heart and commitment.

Overall, a really pleasing result and a fantastic way to start the season. After jumping two leagues, it was important to get that first win on the board, and the lads are now well and truly up and running.
There were some excellent passages of play, quick combinations and some really pleasing football on the eye. Plenty to build on as the season progresses.
A special mention to the Wearside goalkeeper too, who produced some excellent saves, particularly during the first half, to keep the scoreline respectable.
