💛💚 MATCH DAY RESULTS 💚💛
Our cubs headed down the road to Middlesbrough to face their first game of the season, Linthorpe Academicals Clarets⚽️👏🏽
The cubs knew they had some work to do and that’s exactly what they did. From the first whistle, the cubs worked together to move the ball up the pitch. They had a few shots on goal but Clarets keeper made some cracking saves! Another chance came and Poppie found the back of the net.
The cubs settled into the game well and our keeper Sadie didn’t have much to do in the first half. Our two defenders, Alice and Orsi kept the ball away from Sadie and cleared the ball up the pitch when needed.
Working together, Poppie and Ellie had a lovely link up and Poppie found the back of the net!
Half time whistle and the cubs continued to bring energy and understood exactly what to do moving into the second half.
The cubs were awarded a free kick and Teagan stepped up to take it. A beautiful attempt with an unlucky ending due to their keeper making another wonderful save! Play resumed and Poppie managed to find the back of the net twice before taking a well deserved rest!
The Clarets grafted in the second half putting our defence to work but Alice and Teagan kept them at bay and Sadie made some cracking saves! Another clearance, and this time the girls moved the ball up the pitch and Ellie managed to find the back of their net.
The girls ended their first game of the season on a high and we are looking forward to a week off before the next one!
We want to thank the Linthorpe Academicals Clarets for being great opponents and we wish them all the luck for the rest of the season🤝🏽
