✨Wow, just wow! ✨
What a response we had to the launch of our Read & React - Walking Quest with over 150+ people joining us across the three hours 😍
What started off as an idea Louise had after attending the Literacy Summit Hartlepool Borough Council held in February 2025, has officially been brought to life.
Using graphic novel, choose your own adventure style storytelling, and set in our very own Ward Jackson Park, the book blends the world of reality and fiction as players walk around the park looking for landmarks to help solve puzzles and riddles in the story.
Feedback from families:
✨ We noticed things in the park that we had not seen before in all the years we have been coming here
✨ Lovely story and interactive
✨ Immersive
✨ Liked to solve the puzzles, liked the challenge
✨ The children were keen to try the book again for a different adventure
✨The mix of photos from the park with illustrations were very engaging
✨ It prompted my child to read.
Read & React - Walking Quest book is FREE, thanks to the National Literacy Trust, who have funded and supported the project and copies will be available from The Place in the Park Coffee Shop Ltd next week.
Once completed, certificates can be collected from one of the Hartlepool Community Hubs.
Hartlepool Sport would like to give a big shout out to Pets4People, especially dragon Romeo, for making the event even more magical.
We'd also like to thank Community Hubs, Heidi from Place in the Park and Lucy and Sarah from the National Literacy Trust for their continued help and support.
