A late night verti cut off the greens. This will remove some of the lateral growth in the greens. We will hopefully do it again in the morning before cutting the greens. 🌱

Finally things have started to warm up. We are seeing some proper growth now and some real definition in areas of the rough which is starting to look the way we want it.

We’ve purchased some tee caddy’s for the par 3s to collect broken tees so please use them and if we find they are getting used we will purchase more.

We’ve also sprayed the tees with a wetting agent and seaweed.

Some of the greens have had a granular fertiliser applied as the poa grasses were still struggling from the cold dry conditions.

✅ usual course set up
✅ flymo tee banks
✅ spray tees
✅ a granular fertiliser applied to some greens
✅ change putting green holes
✅ repair some sprinkler heads
✅ watering greens and tees
✅ cut some thick rough

Despite Andrew being away on a two day spraying course and the bunkers we’re needing repaired after the heavy rain and hail washed the sand from the bunker faces into the bunkers, we managed a fair bit of maintenance to the greens.

✅ usual course set up
✅ repair washed in bunkers
✅ verti cut greens
✅ sand dressing applied to the greens
✅ sand brushed in
✅ rolled greens
✅ soil and seeded tees

Friday night hole change for the jubilee tray open tomorrow.
The young lads are in raking the bunkers so we’re ready for the final finishing touches tomorrow morning.
A cut and roll on the greens and change the markers. 👌

After a cold period we have seen the growth in the grass check back a bit, allowing us to keep on top of all the cutting. Despite our 2nd application of liquid fertiliser and wetting agent to the greens some of the grasses is still sitting down with the colder weather and frosty starts. This areas will look more yellow and will mostly be found on the more sheltered greens on the front 9.

We’ve started our first cut of thick rough, in line with our rough management plan. This has not been done since September last year, we’re really starting to see the benefits of cutting and collecting the rough.

Our summer labourer has started this week,so if you see Ben out on the course please say hi.

We also have oyster catchers nesting to the left of the 12th yellow tee so please be careful in this area. 🐣

COURSE ETIQUETTE

Over the last few weeks we are starting to see more and more divots out of the greens or greens surround’s and tees pointing in different directions to the holes. If you seen anyone can you please report to a member of staff please.

Greens-

We should not be taking divots from the greens. If you do take a divot from the greens surround can you please replace it and stand on it after. If this is done straight away it’ll have a better chance of repairing.

Fairways -

Please replace your divot after taking a shot and stand on it. This will have a better chance of repairing itself.

Bunkers -

We have our young bunker rakes in helping us again this year who do a great job. Please leave the bunkers the way you would like to find them. So once you have been in a bunker please rake your foot prints behind.

Pitch marks -

If your ball lands on the green please look for your pitch mark and repair. Again we see a lot of unrepaired pitch marks on the greens. It only takes a few second.

Sand boxes -

We’ve placed sand boxes on the par 3 tees again. Can you please fill your divot with sand after you’ve hit your shot. With us being shot staffed at the minute this will help the tees recover quicker. They are not for littler so please use the bins provide.

We don’t normally like writing stuff like this be we feel it’s happening to often recently.

THIS IS YOUR GOLF COURSE PLEASE LOOK AFTER IT.

Just like that we are into full mowing practices. With the rain and now the temperatures rising we are really starting to see definition in the course again. 👌

We’ve finished of the last few greens that were still to be spiked from last week and also sprayed the remaining fairways.

✅ spike the remaining greens
✅ spray remaining fairways
✅ verti cut greens
✅ brush and cut greens
✅ cut all fairways
✅ usual course set up

Next week will be a busy one when we plan to verti cut, apply a sand dressing and spray the greens with seaweed and wetting agent. All these jobs will be undertaken first thing in the morning.
