🎓 COACHES PLAYER OF THE YEAR 🎓

This year’s Coaches Player of the Year is Tom Hibberd!

Tom made an immediate impact on the pitch in his rookie season, coming home with DMVP honours in his first ever Game Day! However, what really stood out this year was his constant willingness to learn in training, proactively contacting the coaching team and improving his game steadily throughout the season. He didn’t let a few injuries slow him down or stop him progressing, and he definitely kept team spirits up during our training sessions.

Along with his Game Day DMVP, Tom had an excellent rookie campaign on the pitch, finishing third in tackles for the team with 44, to go along with 4 PBUs and 1 interception. We cannnot wait to see what year two Tibbo brings!

Congratulations Tom!

This year’s Rookie of the Year is Matt Pacey-Adair!

Matt made an immediate impact after joining Falcons in November, being named DMVP for our preseason friendlies against three top teams. Then, in his first BAFA season, he snagged 61 tackles, broke up 11 passes and caught 4 interceptions in just 12 games! He also received two further DMVP awards for Game Days Two and Six.

When Matt first turned up and immediately asked to play the Safety position we all thought he was mad. However, his consistency, athleticism and eagerness to improve has allowed him to make the position his own, and we cannot wait to see him go from strength to strength in his second season with the club!

Congratulations Matt!

⛔️ DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR ⛔️

This year’s Defensive Player of the Year is Tommy Magner-Parsons!

Tommy racked up the numbers on the defensive side of the ball this year, bringing down 18 interceptions, 4 pick sixes, 66 tackles and 15 PBUs, leading the team in all four stats. He finished second in interceptions and third in pick sixes across the UK, and some personal highlights include his game-sealing pick six against Gwent Gators, as well as his 9 INT, 3 P6, 22 Tackle, 4 PBU statline on Game Day 4.

Separate to this award, it’s worth noting the hard work Tommy put in outside of Game Days this season. Tommy stepped up as Defensive Coordinator this year for the first time, helping install and coach our defensive gameplan to a personnel group with varying amounts of experience and various different strengths. While a successful defence relies on teamwork and everyone playing their role, judging by our division-leading defence it’s safe to say that his first year as DC was a success!

Congratulations Tommy!

🎯 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR 🎯

This year’s Offensive Player of the Year is Ed McKenna!

Ed was a Swiss Army knife on the offensive side of the ball this year, racking up 17 receiving touchdowns, 2 passing touchdowns, 2 rushing touchdowns, 16 receiving 1XPs and 1 passing 1XP. This versatility made him an ever-present danger on 2QB plays, and he was trusted by our QB with a large proportion of important 4th down catches to keep drives alive.

However, what the box score doesn’t show is the amount of gravity Ed created by being such an important tool in our arsenal. Opposing defenders frequently spent most of their time watching him instead of the ball, leading to plenty of scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Congratulations Ed!

🪩 FALCON OF THE YEAR 🪩

This year’s Falcon of the Year is Suzie Katana!

The Falcon of the Year Award is voted on by all members of the club, and signifies the person who most exemplified what ‘being a Falcon’ means both on and off the pitch.

On the pitch and in our training sessions, Suzie has helped ensure our defensive lineup stayed cohesive and focused throughout the year, and has encouraged and provided support for our rookies all season long. Just as importantly she’s kept the vibes up, helping our ‘Queens’ to a division-leading defensive output.

Behind the scenes, as well as being our Club Treasurer, Suzie represented the Falcons and volunteered to help at an NFL Flag Schools event earlier in the year, and was Head Referee for the final of the tournament.

Suzie also won Most Improved Player of the Year! After primarily playing on the offensive side of the ball, Suzie became our starting blitzer this year, racking up a UK-leading 19 sacks to go along with 3 safeties. Appearing in every regular and post-season game day, Suzie’s consistency this season was just as impressive as her statistical output too.

Congratulations Suzie!

Big thank you to Joel at cuckootaproom for presenting the trophy, and for hosting our Awards Night!
