The final league fixture of the season is upon us and the 1s have promotion secured and are travelling to play Paignton who have a slim chance of survival but require alot of help in the other results.
The 2s wrap up their season at home to Honiton and although both teams dont have alot on the line apart from some pride in the mid table scrap, Kenn are keen to finish on a high and would love to see as many supporters as possible on the Big Bank at the Kenn Oval draining the stock of the Kenn Shed which as always is ready, to, go!

Kenn First XI Celebrate Promotion with Dominant Victory!

Kenn 1s have secured a richly deserved promotion after a superb seven-wicket victory over Lewdown 1s this weekend, rounding off a season defined by consistency, character and a fantastic collective team spirit.

Put into the field, Kenn produced another disciplined bowling performance to dismiss Lewdown for 159. Hugh Stronge led the way with an excellent 2-38, while James Mason continued his fine all-round season with 2-35. Alfie Mason also chipped in with 2-40, as Kenn’s attack kept the pressure on throughout the innings.
The finishing touches were provided by none other than James “The Finisher” Gosling, who produced a remarkable spell of 3-0 in just 9 balls to wrap up the Lewdown innings in style.
In reply, Kenn made light work of the chase, reaching the required 160 in just the 30th over. Martin Swannell played the perfect anchoring role, calmly guiding his side home with an unbeaten 63 not out.
At the other end, James Gosling produced a hugely important cameo of 43, showing real mental strength after a disappointing double duck the previous weekend. His response was exactly what the team needed, bouncing back in emphatic fashion when it mattered most.

Captain James Mason was understandably delighted with the achievement:
“The promotion is fully deserved. We’ve had a season of strong performances with both bat and ball, but what has really stood out is the collective team spirit. Everyone has strived to be their best at all times, and that attitude has driven us throughout the season.”

With another impressive victory to seal the deal, Kenn First XI can now celebrate a promotion earned through hard work, consistency and a brilliant team ethos.

📣RESULT AND MATCH REPORT📣

2s 🚗 to Abbotskerswell

The 2nds made the trip down the A38 to Stover to take on a struggling Abbotskerwell. Stoner won the toss and decided to put the home side into bat which soon looked like a good decision. Great opening spells from Matt Jose ably backed up by the rest of the bowlers and the hosts were bowled out for 181, with wickets spread amongst the 7 bowlers used.
Kenn set about the chase in a positive manner until Si Burrell was dismissed with the score on 38, this bought leading run scorer Rudi Ellis to the crease along side Rich Toon they knocked of the total inside 27 overs with Ellis 80no and Toon completing his first ever 50 finishing on 60no.
Player of the match has to go to RIch T congratulations on your achievement. We remain in fourth place with one game to go and are guaranteed a top half finish, all in all a great achievement for our first season in the higher division

Penultimate league fixture of the season and it is looking tasty, both teams putting out a strong lineup with a drive to finish of the season strong.

The 1s are sitting solid in 2nd place with a 19 point gap to 3rd and are at home to Lewdown who are in a relegation battle. Results depending we could see promotion earned this weekend, so as much support as possible down at the Kenn Oval could give a huge boost and help push it over the line. The Kenn Shed will be ready for you!

The 2s are travelling with their own strong lineup down to Abbotskerswell and hoping to put some pressure on those above them to try and take a the final places into the final weekend next week.

🍻SENIORS END OF SEASON🍻

The end of the season is nearly upon us, we have plenty to celebrate and be proud of 🏆 and also to commiserate and chew over 🦆and so we welcome all the senior players who have contributed to yet another eventful season of cricket at Kenn to come down to the club to share a beer and play in a social game between us all. 🏏 Any old players that would like to dust off the whites and maybe stretch them out abit and remember what a Kenn track can do for your confidence are also welcome 👴🏼 aswell as any new players interest in playing for the club out there that have dreamt of a highlight reel at the Kenn Oval 🎥

📣RESULT AND MATCH REPORT📣

1s 🏠 to Whitchurch
Kenn First XI continued their push for promotion this weekend with an impressive 118-run victory over Whitchurch, securing a valuable 20 points and keeping themselves firmly in second place with just two games remaining.
Batting first, Kenn suffered a couple of early setbacks as Gosling and May departed cheaply. However, Sam Plumb and Charlie Francis steadied the ship in style, putting together an excellent partnership of 119 to completely rebuild the innings.
Both batsmen eventually fell within a run of each other, with Plumb reaching a well-earned 50 and Francis going on to make an excellent 62. Al Davey and James Mason then took over, rebuilding the innings once again and taking the score through to 226 before Davey was dismissed.
That brought the ever-dangerous Peter “Don’t Bowl There” Chislett to the crease. Chislett wasted no time, plundering a brilliant 41 from just 15 balls and giving the Kenn innings a huge late boost. With James Mason remaining unbeaten on a well built 56, Kenn finished their 45 overs on a formidable 287.
With plenty of runs on the board, Kenn's bowlers then set about putting Whitchurch under pressure from the outset. Hugh Stronge produced some fine fast bowling, helped by the nagging medium slow of Mason to reduce the visitors to 34-3 and put Kenn firmly in control.
The pressure continued throughout the innings, with debutant Matthew Jose particularly catching the eye. Jose bowled an outstanding five-over spell, taking 1-8, showing superb variation and composure and impressing everyone who had the pleasure of watching his debut.
The fielding was equally impressive. Fielding captain James Gosling produced a display of agility, suppleness and athleticism that was quite something to behold — a fantastic example to all the young cricketers watching.
Kenn eventually wrapped up the Whitchurch innings sharing the bowling honours around nicely;
Hugh Stronge: 2-25
James Mason: 2-24
Chris May: 2-15
James Gosling: 2-35
Peter Chislett: 1-34
Matthew Jose: 1-8
The victory earns Kenn another valuable 20 points, keeping them second in the table and, crucially, 19 points clear of third place with just two games remaining.
The promotion push is very much alive.

Despite the heatwaves our summer is running out, with only a few fixtures left both team are pushing and would love your support to get over the line. The teams are ready, Kenn Shed is stocked, the weather is perfect and in the words of Delia Smith “where are you, lets be having you.”

🏆T20 FINALS DAY TEAMSHEET🏆

Good luck to everyone who will be representing the club at the Tidball T20 finals day on Sunday, an amazing achievement to get to there but they will be giving every ounce of energy they have and hoping for more. It would be awesome to get as many supporters to get behind the team and watch what promises to be a great day of cricket.

A tough week that saw both teams come 2nd in their games this weekend. Still plenty to play for with 3 games left for both teams, especially with the 1s staying 2nd in their league despite the result and they will want to bounce back against Whitchurch this weekend.
